I took a bunch of crappy pics yesterday, but I really like how this one turned out.
The first angle makes me realize that, actually, I would love a buttload of blue-glass towers to pop up, contrary to the notion that we’re getting “too many” - this angle is so damn BEIGE
Yep, I had the same thought. So beige, and people worry about every new building not looking exactly how they want. Too much brick, too much glass, too boring, too weird, etc. Anything to break up the beige please!
Seafoam green towers everywhere!
@Jake lets just pretend we have a tower. Like in one of those Robin Williams dreams from the 1980s or something. Then snap back to reality where we only have Platform being all retro and such with random walls.
I really enjoyed capturing this building when it was first completed. Try going out in the AM and getting sunrise reflecting at an angle off that south face with the patio. If you’re getting good colors with the sunrise, it’s incredible.

if only we didn’t have to see that giant sewer of electrical equipment in the foreground. YIKES. But I love the cranes.
Yeah but having electricity makes the buildings look good at night
I like cranes too, but only one of those are from a private developer. Lots of new developments are hold because the cost of construction(materials and financing) are way too high. Kinda sucks because IMO the demand is there.
Guess who is up from the Queen City? All around downtown and took advantage of the free 2 hour parking.
But did you take the train?
Oh, I guess not because you are taking advantage of the free parking.
No I did not going to many places in the area. But last June I led a tour of 30 people through downtown Raleigh who came up on the train. Few more from my self guided tour of the Capital City.
Hope you enjoyed your stay! Come back soon!
great downtown pics
Hopefully Kane buys this red circled area next, after these apartments are finished. This looks like as it is. Will be even worse by comparison across from the new residences going in facing it from across the street. Gross.
He did buy it! It’s currently in renovation for a brewery/beer garden of sorts. However… it’s been in renovation for what feels like 7 years now lol
he’s the right guy to have the property. At least we know eventually he’ll make it something nice.
