There is something super awesome about walking out of your single family home on a tree lined street and seeing a skyline - I love it. Thanks for sharing @Deb!!
I hope so, too! I know for sure that the gas substation isn’t going anywhere and Kane reps have said as much (it pretty much supplies all the gas to our neighborhoods). The building will be built around it in some way, but it won’t be enclosed, so I don’t know that anything will change too much.
@pBeez it is pretty cool! It’ll be interesting to see how that view changes over the next few years, but we’ll always be able to see BB&T from this vantage. I think we’ll lose most or all of the trees adjacent to the new project on the north side of Cabarrus heading up the hill (left side of photo). I’m sure they’ll add new trees, but it will take awhile for them to catch back up!
This is sad though because we will have to wait three years for another update
they finally give us an update and its already like 6 months old
I hope it was from your backyard!
Berkeley Cafe patio?
Parking lot behind Clearscapes, VAE, etc.?
Since part of Clearscapes property is in your picture, this was taken in the parking lot behind Parkside.
Where the blue Subaru is parked in back of this picture.
With height comes some pretty awesome sunrises and sunsets. Just one more reason why living downtown is so nice.
Sunrise
Stole this one from DRA. I love the scale of the tiny house next to the skyscrapers. Someone should send this to the NIMBY’s in Boylan Heights
Downtown is certainly taking on a monochromatic look, at least from this angle. Smokey glass rules I reckon.
Looks great. This angle catches the wide view of FNB and PNC with their glorious blue glass.
Good point about the scale with the house being dwarfed by the skyscrapers. How long will it be there?
If it doesn’t remain there, it’d have to be moved since it’s designated historic, so I think it’d be really cool to incorporate it into an atrium for a larger skyscraper - as in, build a tower around it and have it be sitting inside a tall, open (public) atrium. Would be interesting, IMO.
Your statement reminded me of when I went to Melbourne, Australia and stumbled on the Coop’s Shot Tower, a historic building incorporated into, basically, an urban mall.
the Pope House is indeed Dwarfed. But if a developer wanted to build a High rise tower across from FNB, I would love for the Pope House to be moved to either the oakwood area or around the Capital District. that piece of property would be ideal for development to add a 40 story tower.
