I think they should cut down the tree that leans over in front of the Capitol building. Also I think they should create low rising steps from street level up to the building on the Hillsborough Street side where the monument was to remember the movement that removed it and to serve as a gathering place (like the Spanish Steps in Rome?).

Is there enough grade change from Hillsborough to the building for steps?
Small broad steps might not work
Whatever the case, I LOVE that the view of the Capitol is not interrupted anymore, and I agree about that one tree being removed. That said, good luck trying to get rid of a perfectly healthy tree.

They took down a LOT of trees in Moore Square no questions asked.

I love both of these ideas. Use the fallen tree to build some nice hardwood benches to place along the steps, voila!

What gave it away? 
First of all, even if you squint and blur the buildings, there’s nearly zero trees.

What did it for me was the BoA tower. But it took several seconds for me to clue in. The whitish rectangle in the foreground confused me, but then the building on the far right foreground looked liked our WF building, and I was like whhaatt? Good post.

I showed Karla without saying much. “Look at this picture”. Of course she knew something was up. She looked it, face started looking confused. I asked, what’s wrong? She looked more confused. She started saying, “I don’t know this building, or this building, or this building.” LOL
I saved her any further pain and told her it was CLT.
