A picture I took a few years ago…
While not technically a picture of downtown, it is from downtown.
Saw these this morning on sanity walk pass Burke Square.
Not to spawn this thread in a direction other than Pics of DTR, but perhaps you can glean comments regarding downtown vs the societal issues that are being discussed over in the General thread.

Downtown from Nash Square to the East is dead as a door nail on a nice Saturday night. Everything boarded up no foot traffic whatsoever.
Moore Square High School taking up a prime spot in east downtown Raleigh doesn’t help. Also there’s not much development going up so there’s a lot of empty lots at the moment. Transfer Company is still very isolated.
I’m speaking of Wilmington, Hargett,Martin, Davie, Blount. DEAD
A post was merged into an existing topic: FNB Tower (Charter Square)
And it will continue to be whether you/we like it or not. This is just the way it’s gonna be for a while, as unfortunate as it is.So how do we help our city thrive during this time of slow growth and quiet city streets?
If you can afford it Spend money with open establishments. Buy things you may need, buy things just because you want it. Buy things for other people that they need but can not afford them. Support your local businesses not online merchants (unless local).
Goes back to the city loosening restrictions on outdoor dining. Grants to quickly pay for repairs. Time for quick bold decisions, no studies or surveys. Try something, even if it does not work out initially.
Any updates? Did they take the words down or change lights??
Supposedly just replacing the roof. No parapet change.
From a carrier pigeon.
Oh ok thanks for the update!
Onward Reserve is opening in Cameron Village and they have a Raleigh t-shirt with artwork by local artist, Anna Ball Hodge.
I like how all of the landmarks are crammed into the skyline.
Onward Reserve reminds me of a cross between J. Crew, JC Penney, and American Eagle Outfitters…

The t-shirt needs a little work…Lol
Good on them for using a local artist, I suppose, but ugghh — maybe they capitalize on the loss of Brooks Bros. If only Fosters was still around, their customers would have a place built for them to gather and commiserate about authentic moments in #GolfCartFam life…
