I’ll have to go take a look at the orange river! I will say that it’s better than the orange sky photos that I’ve seen of San Francisco today!
Nice picture! I noticed 301 popping up all over the place walking/driving around downtown yesterday!
Please excuse my posting this here but news about iconic buildings seem to fit. According to TBJ the very distinctive and iconic Burroughs Wellcome building in RTP is in danger of being demolished to make way for an office park. This news is extremely saddening to me, ruins my whole year. Feels like about to lose a long time friend. I have a medallion from opening day of that building. here is a petition by Manhattan-based Paul Rudolph Heritage Foundation to save the building. It’s about the only building in RTP that’s not just a big box and an icon of RTP.
The tragedy has already occurred … its current state of disrepair. That is what renders it useless.
I’ve been hearing for more than a decade that Boylan Ave. was one of the streets to received buried power lines, but with the canceling of the Peace St. streetscape program, I doubt that any power line burials will happen anytime soon.
Now that Johnson St. connects Glenwood South to Capital, Google maps is recommending that route for walking to the very center of the city. For shits and giggles, and to avoid crowds in this time of covid, I took their directions en route to dinner at the Sitti/Gravy courtyard space. What Google doesn’t know is the condition of the sidewalks. Well, given how this wasn’t previously a viable walking corridor, this is the condition of one stretch of sidewalk as you walk southbound on N. Dawson, just after you have passed under the railroad bridge.
I’ve submited this to the city folks that can assist. In the future, I have had good luck with see click fix, too! Report this stuff if you can. Helps the city to have eyes / ears on the street for areas they miss ![]()
Looks like it will be as tall looking as the Dillon at least The skyline won’t change drastically until 121 Faye, Zimmer, and SHIII get built (and maybe even RUSBUS but I don’t think the project is going to be as tall was we expect it).
Thanks for submitting. Is the click fix an app? I can’t seem to find it on the appstore.
It’s called “SeeClickFix”. And yes it’s an App.
There should be an app, I think I’ve submitted issues directly on the website as well, here: https://seeclickfix.com/raleigh
FWIW, staff indicated that this is technically rail ROW (maybe why it’s looking so overgrown?) but that they would pass it along to the rail folks to work to get it cleared. Feel free to DM me if it’s not taken care of in a few weeks and I can follow up!
I’ll take my shears out there. #tacticalurbanism
Thanks. Will do. In the meantime, I wrote to my council person. That excuse about it being the railroad’s responsibility sounds like a load of crap since it’s along a city sidewalk.
Edit:
Just went to Google maps and this sidewalk is on the other side of a parking lot for Molino Italian Kitchen and Bar. It’s not against the railroad tracks at all.
Edit #2:
Someone already submitted this to SeeClickFix back in July.
