I’ve fixed the reason.
Shameful we dont have tanks on each corner for those pesky teen making videos!!! Wilmington street could use barricades or contract squads holding machine guns? Idk… Im so frightened of downtown Raleigh North Carolina, what am i to do?
Jesus, I gave homie a second chance but I gotta mute him once again lmao. Just one unhinged/uninformed comment after another.
Raleigh, a city with a relatively low crime rate compared to many major cities in the US, on par with NC’s statewide average, and whose crime is statistically not increasing, needs tanks, helicopters, bazookas, a thorough armament of automatic weapons, and a large paramilitary force capable of holding the unruly city to siege. That’s not unhinged at all. It’s freedom.
I’m only aware of one time an American police force bombed it’s own city and it didn’t turn out well.
What do we pay our officers?
Why why. You are correct!
These are suggestions, Raleigh was listed a safe city then the mass shooting happened in Heddingham.
You damn right it is. I’m not unhinged I’m just pro police.
Also Tulsa, OK, 1922…
Blockquote I’m not unhinged I’m just pro police state
Fixed that for you. Goodness gracious.
At the end of the day, a mass shooting can happen anywhere in America and it can’t be 100% prevented no matter how armed and large a police department is. Those are not necessarily the levers that need to be pulled if we want to prevent mass shootings.
As long as we have division, desperation, hatred, and discrimination in our country, and as long as we have untreated mental health among a slice of our population, and as long as we have unbridled access to weapons that enable mass shootings, they are going to continue to happen in “safe” and “unsafe” communities across the nation.
Violent Crime rate per capita of some commonly compared cities:

Minneapolis - 1,280
Nashville - 1,009
Denver - 1,053

Austin - 467

I am not on favor of “defunding the police”. I think that was very poor messaging. However, I think the funding priorities for that department should be considered in context.
Raleigh’s crime rate is stable. Its downtown, despite some growing pains, is candyland compared to many US cities. There are many news outlets that have a distorted narrative they want to push.
Worry more about teachers leaving than cops. Raleigh’s schools have always been one of the major draws for the region and the state government seems committed to pushing all competent teachers out of the state.
$0.02
Yes, thanks for the reminder. Striking coal miners were bombed at Blair Mtn, WV in 1921 but I think that was a case of the State hiring out private citizens as mercenaries to do their dirty work – if the distinction matters.
Agreed that Defund the Police is the single most ineffective and idiotic messaging in the history of politically motivated movements. Frankly, it was a gift to the other side of policing politics.
Raleigh should simply not prosecute crimes under 1k. That model was been wonderful for California.
Not sure if this is common knowledge yet, but a police substation is being built above the Moore Square bus station. Just confirmed this with Matthew Van Antwerp (downtown district commander). He mentioned that it should be completed by Thanksgiving time.
by “above” - what does that entail? Are they taking up some of the parking deck? Building on top of the deck…?
Honestly, no idea. He said the space was being built out now, but I haven’t really seen any activity. I could probably swing by there later and see if I can get an idea.
