Possible Tourist Attractions

They have one in Gatlinburg also. Very fun for the family.

About 20 years ago I lived in Buffalo for about a year. I remember Krispy Kreme opened their first location there and it was the same thing. Traffic jam on the road and cops directing traffic.

A guy brought some into work and asked if I had tried these yet. I looked at the KK box and said ‘yeah I grew up on them.’

Where did you hear Beech Mountain is building an alpine coaster? That would be pretty amazing! I found information about a “Wilderness Run Alpine Coaster” under construction in Banner Elk, across from Sugar Mountain, but that’s certainly not in the location you pictured.

While on the topic, I did once see plans for an alpine coaster at Mystery Hill, a tourist trap between Boone and Blowing Rock. This was several years back, though, and it doesn’t appear that anything has happened, so I’m almost positive it was just wishful thinking on their part.

While I think it’s a great idea. Not sure that hill is really long enough to do something like this. The ride would be over in like 2 minutes.

Maybe they could run it from Beech Mt to Raleigh? Have 5 minute intervals with stops in Charlotte, Greensboro and Saxapahaw. :joy:

From one of the guys on the chairlift, he could have been mistaken, he pointed towards the area of trees being cleared and said that’s where the alpine coaster will go. That was only my second time going to Beech Mountain, because I mainly ski Snowshoe, WV on the East .
We did pass by the Alpine Coaster that you posted in Banner Elk on the way back to Asheville, I would say it’s 80% complete and looks like a lot of fun.

I’m kind of hoping that the Saxapahaw grocery store will fill the non prepared food item niche. We live less than a block from transfer but just can’t get into eating food out of a box. But if the new grocery offered non prepared foods, fresh produce, grocery items, butcher shop, I’m pretty sure we would be regular customers.

A new butcher just opened in Transfer - Alementari. It’s pretty nice and has fresh pasta as well. Try it out!

I literally live like 50 feet from Transfer Co. so that would be great. Beats walking to Weaver Street or the future Publix all the time though I should buy a new bike soon.

There is also one of these near Pigeon Forge TN

Found a link to this on the Raleigh subreddit - very interesting:
