That’s a very selective way to use data with regard to Miami. It’s true that its population in the city proper is slightly smaller than Raleigh’s, but the land area of Miami is less than a quarter the size of Raleigh’s, and Miami-Dade County houses over 2.7M in a usable land area that’s 5/8 the area of Wake County; most of Miami-Dade’s “land” area is uninhabitable wetlands.
I think I missed it, but 5-story, 204-unit apartment building across the street from ‘Midtown Exchange’ at 901 St. Albans. (On the Appearance Commission Agenda for 4/1)
I would put the current boundaries of North Hills at anything east of Lead Mine, south of Millbrook and west of Wake Forest Rd. All those neighborhoods have similar original architecture characterized by split level homes.
That seems like a reasonable boundary, but I’d more likely call that midtown; my North Hills definition would be a subset of that greater area. I’m presuming the Beltline is your southern boundary?
For North Hills, I’d go from North Hills Dr. (both sides of it) on the west, to Six Forks on the east and up to Shelley Rd. on the north, with the Beltline as the southern border. North Hills east would be an appendage given its relationship to the original shopping center properties to its west.
Former Cary Towne Center Update:
Plans updated today with Cary to move Dave & Buster’s to the old Harris Teeter/Jump Street location at 1111 Walnut Street. No time estimates that I can find, but a good use of that ~33k sq ft building (using iMAPS) with a new facade. Their current space in the old mall is about 19k sq ft.
Someone ought to tell fat boy that he shouldn’t wear horizontal stripes.
I think we may officially have a new tallest at North Hills. Walter Tower looks like it’s on the 23rd floor and I think I see just enough rebar sticking up to claim the title. What do y’all think?
Wowsers…Great
This thing will be a monster with 12 floors to go! Great pics
So badass, this area rocks, young, hip, fresh, vibrant and has everything a young professional needs,
.
When they build up the original NH across the street this place will be killer, love private enterprise, they just get it done. WOW.
Yeah, that is basically taking the AAP section above the parking and plopping it on top of the Walter.
Going by the height of the crane, that building will dwarf the other 3 around it.
The Bank of America building looks really nice from this angle.
I know Walter will be all residential so will more likely be helped than hurt if this happens, but hope the projected non-return to office work does not happen or will not see much new office development.
Look how fast they are following the floor construction with the glass installation. Great project management.
Yes, also love the different shapes, look and feel of the towers. All have some unique aspect to them, great place for Raleigh.
I think the non-return to the office work is going to have some effect on office construction, just not sure how much. My company has already said that we will not be returning to the office fulltime, permanently. It will be a hybrid arrangement, with part time in the office. So we’ll still need an office, but they will likely consolidate. At least Raleigh seems to be a destination for people relocating, and working remotely, as opposed to a place people are fleeing.
As I drive by here almost daily, I can also tell you that the interior work seems to be going very quickly as well. Drywall is already going in on the lower floors. So when they are done building up, I imagine completion won’t be far behind.
