As the walter crane comes down, progress continues on the Channel House and Tower 5 of the North Hills Innovation District. Lame picture but what you see circled in red is the parking deck extension which will connect to both of the new buildings. Edit to add: The NHID website says the Channel House will be built first.

Seeing a crane come down is almost as sad as taking down the Christmas tree.
She’s a beaut Clark…I mean Walter.
wait, you people take your christmas tree down? Mine’s been up 2 years solid.
Some crazy news this morning! Hope he’s okay.
well I solved the Christmas Tree problem; Have not put one up for many many years. I’m always at relatives house for Christmas so do not see need to put one up.
Yikes. I saw an RFD truck with a trailer that said “special operations” on it heading that way in a hurry about that time.
I’ve heard that OSHA was there today. This is likely gonna delay the project at least for a few days.
Damn - hope he’s OK.
New (to me) details and renderings about the 4-story office building planned at the corner of W Chatham and S Harrison in Downtown Cary. They recently demolished an older single story building on this corner.
This developent supposedly also involves a land swap with First Baptist Church, an apartment building, and a parking deck.
I’ve been really impressed with the work Cary is putting into its downtown. Nice to see a Triangle suburb developing a denser, walkable town center. Can’t wait to see renderings for the new multimodal station (if they ever stop delaying it).
It also looks like they’re making progress on the big downtown park too. I think this will be a real show stopper, if done right, and lay down the gauntlet for other municipalities and their grand park ideas. Looking at you Dix…
Thank you for sharing this! We run by there every week. While I was excited to see the demolition and read what was replacing it, it seemed stalled for months. I noticed an Available sign recently and was worried it fell through. Hopefully these renderings mean it’s still on track, and I like how they look! Hoping the apartments by Bond Bros/Crosstown Pub are still moving forward. Those buildings were also demolished with nothing else done.
Yeah, I saw the same sign and had the same concerns, and that’s why I looked it up.
Happily, it turns out that the “available” sign is advertising office space in the building that they plan to build! So it’s good news, not bad!
I’m far from an expert so idk if this is a tower crane or mobile crane but it’s interesting.
I absolutely expect this to be a show-stopper. It’s being done by Machado Silvetti, which is a firm I have a lot of respect for… they do very refined, elegant work, and although it’s often subtle they’ve done some of the best museum/cultural projects in the country. Goes without saying that it’s completely unexpected to find them working in Cary.
Cary has money. Enough said.
