Raleigh-area Mall / Life-Style Center / RTP Redevelopments

That’s exciting. I’ve yet to have it. But my friend used to drive from Chapel Hill to Benson just to get this bbq, he was obsessed.

Oh nice, their truck has always been solid.

What a great way to fill in that empty restaurant space.
Assuming this is the old Fox and Hound.

I might be mistaken, but I think it’s the old Q Shack space…?

Ah, that would make sense too. Close enough!

It’s actually the old Which Wich sandwich shop. Will be interesting to see what happens with the old fox and hound.

I’m surprised nobody has grabbed up the old World of Beer place in NH. That’s one of the first places you see when you’ve turned in off the highway.

I’ve been lobbying the owner of Raleigh Brewing to move in there.

You think they’d want to give up their spot off Hillsborough street? Especially with all the space for production they have going on over there for their beer. Would be ironic if they took over the NH space since they took over the old Cary WOB location for their other taproom.

Wouldn’t be a bad shout if another local brewer took a look at it. Vicious Fishes wouldn’t be a bad fit IMO.

If Raleigh Brewing moved in there, I’d think it’d be a third location. Hard to imagine they’d give up their Hillsborough site; they’re the only brewery in the immediate vicinity and thus have that particular market more or less cornered.

Definitely would love to see a brewer from the suburbs open a second location in Raleigh though.

Vicious Fishes feels ideal there.

I don’t mean leave their old location. The owner isn’t against the idea per se but the wfh situation has made the Cary location a bit of a challenge and she’s focused on that right now (in fact I’ve been helping them organize some happy hours over there). I actually think the NH location might be better in the current environment. I’m not saying another brewery or business wouldn’t work there, but I’m “friends” with RBC.

Yeah I work in that area and pre-COVID, when it was a World of Beer, that location was always packed after work from the people working in that area. It’ll be hard to say if any location there will have the same type of afterhours office worker crowd-level to make the numbers work long term.

Honestly never say never but I’d be highly surprised if they left their main location. Not saying it doesn’t have its faults, but I think they have a decent spot and it’s always been packed when I’ve been.

Just saw this coming to North Hills too, in one of the new buildings apparently.

I never went to World of Beer but think it had some bad ratings at the time. I think there was also issues with employees getting paid.

I would love for a brewery here, but don’t know if anything other than a chain place would fit here. I’m assuming the rent would be too pricey but don’t know anything about it. I’ve been curious why there haven’t been breweries here but I believe breweries were limited to areas zoned for IX. I believe that’s been changed or in the process of changing. I would love for one to be at the mall. I’m biased lol.

I’d say it’s in the same class as a Carolina Ale House/Bad Daddy’s/Buffalo Bro’s kind of place. They did specialize in having lots of beers, but we’re not talking Raleigh Beer Garden level. Wasn’t a bad place to eat or drink at, I’ll give it that.

I know there’s Vita Vite in the area so maybe that zoning did change? I would agree rent probably has to be sky high there but I’m with ya. I like beer and would love a brewery to land there for sure.

Certainly seems the initial forays at Kane dev’s are focused on larger format locations and bigger name franchises. I’d personally like to see better balance there over the long haul but maybe it just doesn’t shake out for the pro forma $…

Most likely Kane’s rent is too high for independent / mom & pop type places.

The rent is to damn high!!
I loved that guy’s campaign for NYC mayor.
I am sure the rent is high. It would be interesting to see one, or all of, Kane’s developments try the small, cheap retail spaces as incubators. Seems that would add to the retail mix at NH.

And even more so at Smoky Hollow!
