The Seattle store is in U Village, which is akin to a North Hills or Cameron Village, and it’s the only Bloomingdale’s presence in the Pacific Northwest. The Fairfax location is two miles south of a full-line Bloomingdale’s. Both are outdoor “main street” centers, whereas some of the small-format Macy’s have gone into power centers. North Hills would fit that pattern, and there’s room for it in the Main District’s remaining redevelopment sites along Lassiter Mill Road.
(The Bloomie’s at Old Orchard outside Chicago replaced a full-sized store at an outdoor mall.)
Saks’ bankruptcy filing makes it easier for the company to reject leases and other legal agreements. They’re apparently planning to close over 1/4 of the S5A/NM footprint and half of the Off 5th stores.
i guess the only thing i really got was one guy speaking regularly at city council advocating for more parking lots in downtown being built upon and absorbing the new density and new affordable units…and not messing with some sfh areas.
And I love that for them. Anti-growth mentality has no place on the council, glad they get to be the losers for everything but would be much better if they simply weren’t in any position of power.
At the end of the day, there isn’t any change in entitlement and all of the issues around traffic are a moot point. Once again, our friend Jonathan Melton made sure that this was highlighted. Still, the traffic study was part of the presentation today, and Jane mentioned it in her statement saying why she’s voting no.
Jane and Christina just basically rinsed and repeated their statements from the rezoning at Smoky Hollow in October.
As a side note: As the folks were exiting after the 6-2 vote, a voice is heard saying “shame on you all” from the no group. Bless their hearts.
They are essentially the exact same issues that the folks in Glenwood-Brooklyn tried to use in their failed attempt to block the rezoning in Smoky Hollow.
Appears Kane closed on the next tract of land (~28 acres). Now Dewitt needs to get moving on their Exchange Midtown site (I believe they are starting construction soon on their Lifetime Fitness development)
Well, with that closed, we can likely be assured that Kane’s attention isn’t coming to Smoky Hollow Phase 3 anytime soon. At his age, will he even live to see it developed? I hope that I am proven wrong.
