Raleigh Elections and Council Overall

Exactly why I refer to them as Do-Nothing anti-growth candidates. Just useless wastes of space on the council, currently and especially going forward.

A little off topic, but does anyone know of a compiled list of all the motions the council has voted on this session with how each council member voted?

I’ve been extremely disappointed with my council member (Mary Black) and would consider running an opposition website/flyers. Statistics about how many housing units / affordable units she has voted against I think would be an effective message.

I’m not sure she’s even stated she’s running again and Mitchell Silver is going to be a formidable challenger.

We need to start doing debates for CC elections because no matter who challenges him, he’d wipe the floor with em.

Ah good point, I just assumed she would be running again. I’ve got my money on Silver, would love to see him on the council.

I have tried to do this in the past off of BoardDocs minutes and its just a nightmare - and that’s assuming you have the minutes.

That said I do think the city has a numbering system for the motions so they must exist in a database somewhere.

WakeUp Wake County hosts forums for each district race every cycle and we’re planning on doing so again this cycle I believe.

Nevertheless, here they go. And of course WRAL is right on top of this.

Tell me about it. I’m supposed to be mowing the lawn right now, but there’s a no vote in my head

If we do a “counter petition” that supports CC’s decision, does every signature negate a signature on Livable Raleigh’s petition?

Thins on- line petition (which doesn’t count) only has 51 signatures. Long way to 5000. Petition · Demand a Referendum on Raleigh City Council's Term Extension - Raleigh, United States · Change.org

Does the Change.com petition acknowledge anywhere that it’s not valid in NC and that signatures must be collected in-person to go towards an official petition count? (rhetorical, it does not - but this online petition further proves my consensus that not everything needs to be voted on via referendum because more often than not, average citizens know jacksh!t about how their own gov’t works lmao)

I’ll add that the official one is going to come from Livable Raleigh. They’re going to be setting up in about 4 different locations. I’m assuming they’re where the primary elections are going to be taking place.

Essentially, going to be the same stunt they pulled off when they handed out the city council preferred candidates by the Democratic Party.

In the second primary in 2022 average turnout per precinct was about 150 people. This second primary is Brad Knott (unopposed), GOP Lt Gov, and GOP Audtior.

Yeah if their goal is to get signatures in the most democratic-leaning areas of the City on a day where the only races on the ballot are for whoever can out-MAGA the competition…really excited for them to keep doing what they’re doing!

Not yet, though petitions aren’t due until July.
Also didn’t respond to candidate questionnaire from Raleigh magazine.
