Well congrats to her. I wish her well as a person. She seems like a decent human being. I just wish someone would run against her who wouldn’t reluctantly vote no on everything involving growth downtown.

(Another way to say this would’ve been: While I don’t always agree with her voting record, she seems like a good person and I wish her well. Congrats!)

Maybe I am just a :grumpy_cat:

Was it like, during a city council meeting as well? In the main area, in her office, whose office?

SMH. I think she took time off from her busy Council agenda to have the baby in the hospital. LOL. Men.

I didn’t say it. I thought it was kind of an odd place to have a baby as well.

Well, in looking at the way it was worded - I do get that it was not worded very well.

Can someone tell me who to vote for? At least for city council and Board of Commissioners?

At-large, literally the only 2 people I can stomach voting for is Stormie Forte (incumbent) and Clark Rinehart. Every single other candidate appears to be NIMBY-lite at best, NIMBY-blow-hard at worst.

Board of Commissioners: 1000% Jonathan Melton (he’s our best current Councilmember so while it will be sad to see him go, he absolutely must continue his work in our City Gov’t in whatever capacity he’s running for, so this is a clear bet) and then I’m going Christine Kushner for my 2nd vote (you can pick 2) as my gf knows her and believes in her.

What about Cam Zamot? Walkable neighborhoods, traffic deaths, and transit….

I don’t have an opinion on Cam :man_shrugging: Just gave you who I’m voting for haha

All good, just didn’t know if there was a good pro-development/density reason not to vote for him.

I voted for Cam and Stormie for city council at large. And Jonathan Melton for Wake County Board.

Ok now I’m curious if Cam is the better choice over Clark?? I’m mostly going by Clark’s response to “LiVaBLe RaLeiGh” questionnaire which was the only candidate that seemed to give them any pushback.

Both are similar candidates in their overall visions for Raleigh (from what I’ve observed). Cameron is slightly more geared towards addressing problems in our city related to lack of viable transportation in the city and how building out more infrastructure to support this can have a ripple effect in the livelihood of most folks in Raleigh. I voted for both of them tbh.

I went off of the LR questionnaire responses, Zamot’s is below:

  1. Did Council do theright thing in approving the West Street Tower (Z-12-25)
    rezoning? Why or why not?
No, I don’t think we need a 30-story development there. I would prefer to see 5-7 (or
even up to 12!) story mixed use. This zoning will drive up the price of that land,
lengthening the time to build anything in that spot.

I’m team Rinehart
