Yeah, was just going to come back and add to my last comment. I re-read Cam’s response to their questionnaire, and while it’s not as bad as the others, I still prefer Clark’s pushback to some of their leading-questions. I also have mostly agreed with how Stormie has voted thus far in her tenure, so that’s why I’m sticking with her for my incumbent vote. Otherwise, if there were no incumbents at all, I’d probably vote for both Clark and Cam. However, with Stormie claiming one of my votes - I gotta go with Clark for my 2nd vote. Cam seems to have his heart in the right place but honestly any candidate who outright states they would deny high-density rezoning requests in the immediate downtown area (yes, including on Peace St), I just can’t justify giving them a place on the Council. 2 of them on there currently is already 2 too many.
Yeah he’s seemingly ignorant of the fact that the developer that requested the 30-story rezoning literally already owns the land and plans to develop it to the new zoning allowed lmao. Not a good first impression from Cam, IMO!
Thanks to @GucciLittlePenguin and you guys for helping me decide. I was admittedly a little ignorant about some of the candidates. Heading over now.
City at-large: Stormie Forte & Clark Rinehart
County at-large: Jonathan Lambert-Melton & Christine Kushner
Pedestrian / bicycle / transit issues >> where to build high rises in the downtown subarea.
It’s a big city and these are at-large seats.
Just a reminder that this primary will reduce the City at-large candidate field from 6 to 4 on the Fall ballot.
So plenty of room for everyone’s favorite to advance.
Yeah I don’t recall seeing Zamot on my ballot. He was an at large correct?
City Council At Large: Clark and Cameron but would have also been okay with Sana and Stormie. I do like Clark the most, but Cameron and I have been friends, I used to bike with him once a week. Clark offered to watch my cat ![]()
City Council District C: Branch
County Council At Large: Jonathan Lambert-Melton & Christine Kushner. Christine mentioned BRT on her website, without also mentioning Light Rail but I’m open to challenges on her.
What about Mona Singh thoughts on her?
She’s surprised me at two different groups I affiliate with (CityBuilder and the UU Church) and then added me on Facebook afterwards. I would probably be okay with her. I just really don’t like how she talks about how many patents she has. It’s like talking about my experience working retail when I’m applying to a corporate job. It has nothing to do with the job she’s applying to and it’s really conservative coded, even though she seems to support policies I do as well.
My biggest hesitation with Sana was seeing she had been endorsed by Livable Raleigh and Christina Jones (according to Ballotpedia). I’ll be honest, I did most of my homework last night and didn’t dig further into the validity of this information. It just gave me pause despite her talking points.
We may not see details trickling in for a few more minutes. Apparently one site in Halifax County had issues getting things going this morning and their site is open until 8:30 pm.
Results are starting to trickle in.
Thoughts on Mona Singh…
She’s winning at the moment.
It looks like Jonathan finished just short in his race for Wake County Commissioner. What a bummer. He has done tremendous work on the city council and would have been a great Commissioner. I hope there’s more in store for him in some election down the road.
There gonna be 3 NIMBYS in Raleigh city council I blame the INDY for endorsing Sana, and I blame myself for voting for her without doing my proper research I wish I could take back my vote. We’re screwed.
So, for the at-large council seats, how many go onto November?
The winning 2 go ahead, i don’t know about San she sounds NIMBY for a gen zer.
Top 4 advance per a couple of sources.
