They need to go for it then.

Letās goooo. Waiting for our city to light the skyline red again
You are most likely correct, but Raleigh would be an ideal location for the ACC headquarters. Checks off all of the boxes, except for ātoo close to Chapel Hillā.
Charlotte or the DC area seems like the logical destination.
For fun I calculated the geographical center of all the ACC teams (including Notre Dame) and it is Laurel Fork, VA.
In all seriousness, Iād be shocked if Charlotte wasnāt chosen. Just makes the most sense.
Iād have said DC was in there too but the fact that ACC Network and ESPNās college studios are in Charlotte kinda seals the deal
Place it in College Park Md because Iām petty. Eat your heart out Sweaty Gary.
Raleigh is still considered Braves country right?!
Bally Sports does allow Raleigh to see it games, but we get the postgame show.
No, just Orioles and Nationals. Which has led to the decade-and-a-half stalemate between MASN and TIME Warner Cable/Spectrum. Spectrum sees clearing the MASN networks as a waste of space (which isnāt true, outside the games MASN is trash) while MASN wonāt compromise by doing a sublicense with someone with carriage in NC.
It doesnāt also help that neither has done anything to market to NC to justify their territory which creates a chicken and egg problem. All the more reason to get an MLB team here, itās functionally open territory.
Thatās so strange. Any anecdotal look around at what hats/jerseys people are wearing (and thatās before the playoffs) would tell you the Triangle leans toward the Braves (and, regrettably, the Red Sox for some reason).
Thirty years of Braves games on TBS still have an effect a good nearly decade and a half since that ended. The only parts of NC that are in-market for the Braves are those counties in the Charlotte and Greenville-Spartanburg-Asheville markets plus two orphaned counties out west (Clay with Atlanta, Cherokee with Chattanooga).
Prior to the creation of MASN, the Orioles werenāt an issue: Their over-the-air network had Raleigh affiliates until the turn of the century, the old Home Team Sports was on cable here until around then, then afterwards then-Fox Sports Carolina picked up Orioles games from by-then-Comcast SportsNet on license. This when I can count on one hand the number of people Iāve seen on this entire state representing their Orioles fandom on one hand and still have a finger or two left over.
Between the global fanbases of the Red Sox and Yankees, the boosting of the Blue Jays from Drake, and the periphery Rays fandom thanks to their affiliation with the Bulls, you can argue that the Orioles have the smallest fanbase of any AL East team in the Triangle.
Yeah, Braves have a long shadow from the days of Smoltz and TBS. Orioles who? Nationals what?
30 years of losing will also shrink your fan base. Really crappy ownership. I still say that Iām an orioles fan, but I donāt really follow them any more.
Try the long shadow of Dale Murphy!!
I have barely seen any Braves jerseyās hats around here. In Greenville, SC where I lived previously there was a ton. But here not so much.
This area really is the place for a new MLB franchise. I donāt really care about BB too much. But I would probably go to a game here or there.
Iāve seen a ton more Braves swag just in the past few days. Coming out of the woodwork!?
Weāre going to party like itās 1999 (well, at least pre-Game 1 of the World Series 1999).
To be honest, I still have nightmares over losing the ā96 WS. This was the exorcising of demons past (damn Yankees indeed).
Alamo-style movie theater and a bowling alley will do it. There just needs to be a visionary developer willing to risk building a mix-use tower with specific entertainment value in-mind. I asked the developers of the Nexus for considerations but they didnāt seem to care.
Again moving the arena to downtown be a good incentive for developers to expand the scope of their projects.
Replying to but not directed at you specifically - Moreso a pontification :
I fail to see how schedules of ACC BB and hockey - Oct thru April really kick off the every day aspect of a part of town?? Sure, it localizes certain aspects of the existing fabric downtown BUT does it change anything for the greater municipality or is this just folks asking for things to land in their back yard ?
I really donāt know and Iām really just curiously askingā¦
