Calling other posters incoherent and that they add nothing isn’t exactly lowering the rhetoric. And then going on your own tirade is like the pot calling the kettle black.

Seeing pictures from Charlotte tonight, it makes me wonder what good Carter-Finley really does when it doesn’t pull its weight. Imagine building a 75,000 seat retractable roofed dome and what good it could do.
I know the price tag is a couple billion and MLS needs not even half that, but it seems like MLB is killing itself and if we had to spend this might be more than what MLB can provide given their own density. Who’s with me?
Well this is a total pipe dream, there is nobody (with actual money or business sense, neither public nor private) interested in building a multi billion dollar stadium complex in Raleigh.
Well there should. It’s a shame that our moneyed people would rather sit on their wealth rather than do things that benefit the people. The tax money for this would be well spent, every single penny.
Charlotte went after an NFL team with no stadium and it got them a stadium and so much more. We could’ve done the same but this city is too dense to get out of its own way it seems. Sometimes stadiums get built and a tenant either takes years to get there (St. Petersburg) or never come (Quebec City, Kansas City). Money well spent.
FWIW Don Garber just said once they add St Luis and Vegas to get to 30 they’re probably done for a while.
I think MLB is our best and unfortunately only bet right now and that’s where our focus should be.
Once MLS figured out what they’re doing with Mexico maybe there will be hope on that.
How Vegas zoomed by us when they are a very lopsided metro with little to offer outside tourism is embarrassing and Raleigh should be friggin’ ashamed of itself.
We are the perfect MLS market and we’re going to get frozen out because we’re a poor as heck metro with industries that don’t make money and no civic will. This area really is hopeless when Vegas is taking us to the cleaners.
I want to move to Vegas now. Vegas has a brain, unlike the hopeless Triangle.
MLB is a dying league. MLB is only headaches. MLS is cheaper and more manageable and the future.
Someone here should buy a duplicate team like NYCFC that has no hope of a stadium and move them here. It’s the only way this hopeless metro can get a team it seems. Why does this area suck so bad?
Wait you’re being sarcastic, right?
About what? Raleigh being a lazy, deficient metro that lags behind a smaller metro and TV market like Vegas or that NYCFC would be better off here than sharing an MLB stadium?
The issue is people here are too scared Raleigh Fragility has to go out the window NOW!
Atlanta i don’t think you understand Raleigh has had a history of fragility and being scared to take risk for years. Atlanta the the City you come from isn’t. First problem from Raleigh we need to de-associate from the state. Atlanta is a state capital they have no relation to Georgia except being the capital, same thing with Austin, Phoenix. 2. Too many scared folks gotta get rid of them we call them NIMBYs, and 3 deficiency that why we need up zoning for all of downtown.
The pictures from that other NC city is what could’ve been us and missed potential. We got to get all old and scared people out of politics. And we need to screw the retirement imagine and the Suburban image.
I don’t think I can think of any policy less popular with young progressives than dumping a billion dollars on a stadium for a for-profit sports ownership group that doesn’t exist yet.
Oh not now progressives are anti-billionaire as a person who is one. I can tell you stadium funding going be really hard to get out of government mouths very soon.

75000 fans at CLT game, that is impressive. Could Raleigh make that happen.

Maybe not with MLS but MLB to Raleigh.
Rather watch paint dry than a 1-0 soccer thing…
The only reason Charlotte broke that record is because their stadium is bigger than Atlantas/other MLS stadiums. I can guarantee you that Carter-Finley will be full next February for the winter classic Canes game.
Keep in mind charlotte usa is all about “show”….did anyone actually watch the game and was the stadium truly full?
What happens a lot down there so the charlotte usa boosters can claim a “sellout” is the local companies buy up all remaining tickets so they can claim a sellout.
