How do I do that? Just copy and paste the quotes and put the link?

There’s a blockquote button here in the text editor. Use that to make something look like a quote.

i discovered the “wait one hour between posts” is for YOUR OWN posts (at least it was doing that for me)…but it HAS allowed me to reply to someone ELSE’s post quite quickly, without waiting an hour

perhaps …i got to see tigers stadium earlier this year. it is next to a busy urban interstate section but it appeared to me it took a lot of 90 degree turns and a few lights to get to it from parking decks. .

a resident there did tell me to him it seemed to flow well post game

A similar development to the Lenovo Center in Raleigh has been in progress in Pittsburgh for the last few years. The project centers on the redevelopment of the former Civic Arena site in the Lower Hill District of the downtown. Concept plans include transforming the existing surface parking lots surrounding the hockey stadium into a vibrant mixed-use community. This 28-acre redevelopment will feature residential, commercial, and office spaces along with public amenities, aiming to reconnect the area with the urban fabric and foster economic growth in the neighborhood.

Love downtown Pittsburgh. My dad moved there before they demolished 3 Rivers Stadium and I was fortunate enough to watch July 4th fireworks from the riverside and see a Pirates game there before the sports venue transformation. They did a fantastic job with that entire project and it’s such a cool city from Mt. Washington to the North Shore and The Point. That said, the core of downtown could use this new project to spruce things up!

We loved the skyline view from Mount Washington too. Our grandson played Carolina Hurricanes Junior hockey & they had a 4 day tournament in Pittsburgh. Four inches of snow , super downtown restaurants, great memories!

from The Data – MLB Raleigh “…What you find is that MLB far and away has the most home games with 81. NBA and NHL are next with 41 a piece, then there is MLS with only 17 and NFL with a measily 8.
What should jump out at you here is that two of the top-3 sports in per-game attendance are in the cellar (MLS & NFL) when it comes to ‘number of home games.’ Meanwhile, MLB sits at the top with 81, leading every other sport by a massive margin…” if this is accurate and doable would volume perhaps trump niche-ness??

Did anyone else notice this item, kind of buried in the article:

“Under its district redevelopment agreement with the Centennial Authority, the Hurricanes can develop four separate phases, each up to 20 acres at a time. The development is planned to allow for a new stadium to be constructed at the site farther away from Carter-Finley Stadium and closer to Wade Avenue.”

Does anyone else remember anything that hinted at another stadium? This seems like huge news, but I don’t think I’ve seen discussion of it.

Also this comment from Ag Commissioner Steve Troxler: “It’s really too early yet, but I know pretty much for sure we don’t have any size tract of land that would accommodate a baseball stadium.”

I saw that - was a little surprised no one asked questions about that and dug into the details on that a bit more.

Although, that may just be something included for future flexibility decades down the line. If they’re sinking $300M into the Lenovo Center renovations, I don’t see them opting to replace the stadium any time soon obviously, but once we get to the end of the area development period in ~20 years, Lenovo would be 40+ years old. I wonder if that’s the thinking behind tossing that into the agreement about the arena’s eventual replacement.

Yeah I think the new stadium thing has always been out there for 20 years down the line. This time they chose to renovate but next time building new may make more sense.

And I’m glad if they don’t put a baseball stadium out here in West Raleigh. Put it downtown or downtown adjacent.

At some point maybe we could talk about replacing or upgrading Carter Finley?

I get that there have been enhancements and renovations there over the years but at its core it’s still the same old 1960s era venue. Which is not terrible, per se, and it will be “historic” before too long - but it could use some work.

Perhaps a partial rebuild, at least? Increasing the pitch of the lower bowl seating to make the field big enough for soccer would be my dream scenario. Reduce capacity somewhat but it would otherwise improve the gameday experience by improving the view for those seated on the lower level - I’ve always felt that the pitch of the seating on the lower level is not steep enough.

Would also love to see some sort of a cantilevered roof structure to provide shade or protection from rain.

Not sure how any of this could be justified without something like an MLS team to share the venue with - hosting the occasional international match or pre season friendly featuring some clubs from Europe is not enough to warrant what this would cost. Plus, we all know how MLS likes dedicated venues and most on here would rather see this get built in Downtown South anyway. Just daydreaming, really.

I can assure you that any augmentation to Carter-Finley will not include widening the field to accommodate soccer. I suspect that any future changes would include bowling-in the upper deck on the end zone sides and/or luxury boxes on the east side upper deck.
