Canes took game 1 of the second series against the Washington Capitals on the road! Winning a road game is HUGE! Let’s go Canes!

Also, :bird: says Police Week is about to start so the city will be lighting up blue and then red for the Canes.

Huge win last night and still didn’t light the skyline red! Bummer. At least light up the spire on pnc. They still have a partnership with the arena & the team from what I understand

Canes win both home games, rather easily handling Washington tonight 5-3 (last goal was empty net). Canes are now up 3-1 and will head to Washington for game 5 Thursday to try and close out this round.

Forgive me because I am a hockey novice - if Canes win this series, they go on to the Conference Finals - then whoever wins that goes on to the Stanley Cup Finals??

That’s correct! Canes need just 1 more win to move on to the Eastern Conference Finals

Yes! I know this because I googled it during the game last night

I don’t have tons of confidence they’ll win the away game, though it seems much more possible than in recent years’ playoffs. I am cautiously optimistic about winning Saturday at home though. Washington apparently had the 2nd best record in the NHL, and the best in the conference. So if the Canes can move through successfully to the conference championship, I think they should theoretically have an easier time with that round. Win or lose, seeing them in the Stanley Cup finals would be awesome!

In theory yes, but the playoffs are very different. For instance the #1 record in the league(Jets) had a tough 7 game series where they almost lost in OT to the last place team(Blues)

If we advance to the next round, I’m most concerned with the defending champs Florida Panthers. But let’s not count our chickens before they hatch, we don’t have the best road game, and like previous year’s playoffs have shown, goaltending might be our Achilles heel.

Let’s go Canes! Now who can we pester about getting a real watch party somewhere downtown?

As one might expect, it’s a bit rowdier on Glenwood than a typical Thursday night if the sound I hear from inside my condo is any indication. :hurricanes:

Since Ale House is shut down, I think City Plaza is a great place to set up for this. Maybe even Moore Sq.

New banners up for the Canes on Glenwood.

Oof. Glad the city waited till the round we’ll definitely be getting crushed out of the playoffs to put up any sort of marketing/support! lmao

BTW, things not looking good for the Canes. They’ve given up both home games to the Panthers and now go on the road down 0-2.
