Not what most fans want to hear right now, but the goal was just to make the playoffs - and we beat that by making the ECF. With one of the biggest cap spaces this offseason, we’re set to reload big. This was always a “down” year, and Tim Donnelly at 99.9 said the same… but hey, maybe I’m just coping…

I have a friend that’s big into hockey and after moving to the triangle adopted the Canes as his 2nd team (but also a season ticket holder). It seems we signed a BIG player in Mikko Rantanen that would have taken us deep into the playoffs and a much better chance at the cup. Apparently he didn’t want to play for the Canes so we had to eat it and traded him to Dallas (btw, Dallas is in the Western Conference finals and up 1-0 vs Edmonton. So, the aforementioned massive cap room comes from that situation so this off season should be very interesting leading into next season.
I’m proud of our Canes! Nobody wants to see losses, but we really do need to take this season as a BIG win in context of realistic expectations coming into the season.

First game was 5-2, the second game was even worse - 5 to NOTHING. Both at home. Next 2 games are on Florida’s turf

Brind’Amour may share a story with the team from back in the days that he captained the team.
Down 0-2 in the ‘06 Montreal series, both being home losses featuring a 6-1 beatdown and a 2OT loss, they were down 1-0 late in game 3 when he stuffed in a rebound and forced overtime.
Won 4 straight games to take the series in 6 games and went on to win the Cup.
It could happen*.
*Note: although this is not that ‘06 team and Florida is not Montreal.

I want them to win too, but Jake’s right. They’re not up to the challenge this round, and they’re done. I’d be surprised if it was more than 4 games, but shocked if it was more than 5.

I hate this Eastern Final concerning our games as much as a lot of you do but The Carolina Hurricanes has put Raleigh on the map with other bigger cities & also MLB & this is really great! I say bear with our coach for next season & see what happens. “Go Canes”! I believe that Everyone needs a second chance. I got a second chance in life & it made my life a lot better.

BTW, our coach took a team that was considered “rebuilding” and ran them to the Eastern Conference Championship. I don’t think there’s any consideration of booting Brind’Amour with the success he’s had since day 1 of stepping into those shoes. I’m excited for the continued success!

I sacraficed as well. I didn’t watch the game last night so they’d win. So far they’re 1-0 in this series when I don’t watch and 0-3 when I do.

Well, the Canes had a fantastic season despite the critics and another trip to the Eastern Conference Championship. We did save face with at least 1 win vs the Panthers.
Watch out next season! I bet the Canes make some big moves in the off season!
