I thought MLB didn’t like privately funded stadiums. Whoo stadium negotiations in Raleigh are gonna be tense.

This was all mentioned here two years ago. If you don’t believe the NWSL team valuations, google it. KC had an MLS stadium already. They built a separate stadium for NWSL and it’s been a huge success. This is viable and has always been the realistic outcome for the DTS soccer stadium (prioritizing a venue for the Courage). For those in the back (again), teams only relocate because of stadium issues, only. The Courage needed this or they were going to be lapped by the rest of the league and eventually tempted by an offer to relocate and build a KC or Louisville-esque stadium in a different city. The writing was on the wall even though, sure, they were drawing good crowds at wakemed soccer park. This isn’t a nice-to-have venue, it’s required to keep our top tier women’s soccer franchise. Idc about the impact to NCFC, it’ll obv be good for them, but this is about protecting the Courage.

Guess what though - if Raleigh doesn’t pony up any money for an MLB stadium; another city WILL. Check out what’s going on with the Gary, IN - I mean Chicago Bears right now…

I’m on the city of Raleigh Reddit and they think Downtown South is gonna be used by taxpayer money I’ve already told them it won’t be and that the city has a fund for types of projects like these how do I explain it to them?

The fund that the city has that it uses for projects like these comes from taxpayer money, because all of the money that the city, county and the state has is taxpayer money. The people on the Raleigh Reddit forum are correct about this, so nothing really needs to be explained to them. Dedicating a particular revenue stream for projects like this doesn’t change the fact that it’s still taxpayer money.

I highly doubt Raleigh residents will have an appetite for publicly funding both an MLB and a soccer stadium…

I was in Wilson today, so I decided to check out their new ballpark. This is the home plate “grand entrance.” A little spartan to say the least.

this needs banners and/or giant posters in between every column

Well they’re also paying for the White Sox stadium so yeah Chicago might lose there NFL team.

Then it’s not happening. I don’t want DTS to get funding it makes no sense Baseball does. NWSL Kansas City stadium was privately funded Steve Literally has Noami Osaka on it current ownership. Why can he have it privately funded like the first MLS stadium proposal on state land.,

Steve Malik is just delulu the man i feel he’s a troll, even after the state said No on state property he continued to convince people it was a good idea, if he was serious about MLS he would’ve changed sites before Tepper took over.

I’m gonna write to Mayor Janet Cowell I’m gonna ask her a tough question. I don’t think she aware Kansas City NWSL stadium was privately funded, i gonna urge her to focus on Baseball them this.

This is trying to recreate the look of tobacco warehouses, which Wilson is/was known for.

A few windows would help make it not look like a prison.

To me it looks a really lame barbican.

Here’s a better one….err….maybe the best one that can be found in the world today.

How about the players for the Carolina Hurricanes getting gold, silver, and bronze at the Olympics? :1st_place_medal: :2nd_place_medal: :3rd_place_medal: :hurricanes:

For anyone who doesn’t know, Jacob Slavin won gold with Team USA, Seth Jarvis got a silver with Canada, and Sebastian Aho got a bronze with Finland!

Wow I somehow didn’t realize the other 2 were playing, just not for USA. Pretty cool!
