What is the point of being a dad if you can’t tell dad jokes?

Maybe change the term to ‘lock-in’ instead of retreat.

Well in serious news, retreat in the domestic sense is usually used in connection with a hobby (writing being the most common). Vacations and other relaxation endeavors are probably the most common usage. However in business, I think any off-site gathering probably fits into a retreat per se. Even one within walking distance.

They should just got to Players’ Retreat, knock back a few scotches, and solve all our problems.

Has anyone ridden the greenway in this area recently? I’ve noticed more and more tents. Maybe that’s the affordable housing people are complaining about losing for this project?

Don’t get me started on the complaints about “gentrification” of this area. There are NO homes…unless you count homeless tents. It’s a dump and completely underutilized. This project will create real jobs that the few poor people in the area can apply for…

Which dovetails what’s been fomenting in my brain on another thread - the idea of enhancing commuter rail through Downtown South with access to a possible rail station in South Raleigh…

NCFC unveiled their new jersey sponsor this week, and it’s the Dreamville festival. Personally, I really like the jerseys, but I’m more intrigued by the possibility of collaboration between the festival and the club. Maybe with a keynote festival to pair with a new stadium in DoSo they will gain some more public support, plus Dix park won’t get completely destroyed every festival.

Today’s TBJ has a article concerning DowntownSouth’s Stadium proposal . I’m not a subscriber .

It’s public, anyone can read it. It’s basically detailing where the 46 million could be allocated with all the projects asking for funding, and the work session they have March 16th

How is St. Aug even requesting any funding? What benefit to the city as a whole does providing funding to a private school provide? The school is barely hanging on financially as it is. Why should taxpayers foot the bill for their athletic facilities…at all? WT?

I see an easy one to strike from the list.

Next up: calculate ROI or ROE for all of these projects and award funding based on that ratio. $2 Billion in new property construction will yield in property taxes alone a number that will triple the contribution hotel taxes provide and will be tough to beat…

Drew , I still could not read the article when I clicked on your post , but thanks for the March 16th information .

It’s dead there so not getting that money he should had private funds. Let’s focus on MLB the lesson don’t do a stadium (cause that what sidetracked the MLS Bid) state property and don’t ask for taypayer money for a Stadium unless if half or a little amount.

I can promise you that the MLS bid is NOT dead. I know his attorney very well.

No city builds a stadium or arena with private dollars…not how the real world works. Doesn’t matter whether you like it. It’s just the way it is.

The second best baseball stadium in the country was built with private funds. Along with one of the best hockey arenas in the country in Vegas and an MLS stadium in Orlando soooooooooooo

It’s not dead, really MLS isn’t expanding for at least another 10 years, Charlotte now has a team, unless his lawyer is a billionaire there nothing that can be done. I’m for MLS in Raleigh perhaps two NC teams there the only league that can do it in this state, have 2 teams in one state when two metropolitan is close together (something MLS has achieved with Kansas City and St. Louis, and San Jose and Sacramento, or even the same city like New York and LA but that’s all leagues do that for them) because it doesn’t have a significant impact on college and our 3 college teams has no real good soccer presence.

The stadium would mainly be for the current USL and NWSL teams. 12,000-15,000 seats per the TBJ article.
