Yep, that’s the Addam’s Family condo building!
Really? I think its one of our better looking mid-rise buildings. I’m a sucker for a mansard roof though
Agreed, love a Mansard, but this seems off. Maybe height, on the hill, isolated, it just reads off to me.
I was never much of a fan of it either. However, there was supposed to be a second building, which would have made it look a little more balanced. Then 2007 happened and it never got built.
this random preserved corners with cement garage inside is going to look so WTF? for ages while we wait for developers to actually build.
Sigh…
Ages… one year (characters)
we are only going to have to wait 12 months? I thought it was up in the air due to funding?
I’m somewhat being optimistic, that was the expected start year (in 2024). My expectations of this still being the case are 6ft below a Moore square trash can. Contradictory, maybe so…
This is for the best…
And then somebody forgets the keys the next morning…
put one of those at Moore Square garage so some can be locked IN, not out

I see this here on this week’s planning commission agenda. This reads to me like they are loosening the affordable housing requirements.
This request is to amend zoning conditions for 200 South West Street. Approved zoning conditions from 2019 cover the topics of restricted uses, affordable housing, building type, parking restrictions, pedestrian access, building materials, active uses, and historic preservation. The only proposed change to the 2019 zoning conditions is related to affordable housing. The existing zoning conditions require the dedication of affordable housing units on site. Specifically, the existing condition requires that 20 units or 10%, whichever is greater, be dedicated as affordable housing to households earning 80% of the area median income or less for a period of 15 years. The rezoning request seeks to amend this condition to provide the option to contribute funding to the City in lieu of constructing dedicated affordable dwelling units. The condition requires a contribution of $40,000/unit for 10% of the total dwelling units on site, if housing is built.
To translate this to me, I asked ChatGPT.
This rezoning request makes the zoning conditions less restrictive in terms of affordable housing.
Why?
The current zoning requires that affordable housing units be built on-site, ensuring direct availability of affordable units within the development. The proposed change allows the developer to opt out of providing on-site affordable housing by paying a fee instead.
Key Considerations:
- Flexibility for the Developer – The developer gains an alternative to constructing affordable units by making a financial contribution.
- Potential Loss of On-Site Affordability – If the developer chooses the payment option, the site itself will not necessarily include any affordable units, shifting the responsibility to the City to use the funds elsewhere.
- Adequacy of the Contribution – $40,000 per unit may not be sufficient to replace lost on-site affordable housing, as the cost of constructing new affordable units can be significantly higher.
Bottom Line:
The amendment reduces the direct obligation to provide affordable housing on-site, making it a less restrictive zoning condition.
Whatever- just BUILD THE TOWER lol
The motion to amend the zoning (adjusting how affordability would be covered) passed the Planning Commission 4-2. I think that’s very good news.
Gates? Hmm, I wonder about that choice
You’ve been sneaking into quite a few places sir lol
Hard to tell from the picture, but will the BRT loading platforms at this station not be level with the bus like at other stations?
