Well that… makes sense haha
Does anyone know if the space where they are moving was always intended to be office? Seems like a bit more retail, particularly somewhere to eat would have been nice. I would have liked a restaurant in the second floor space that juts out and has a nice view. That may be where the wine and paint place went.
I think it’s proving hard to get much in there given the limited customer base at this point.
Took the thoughts and words right out of my head…Lol
Can confirm, wine and design is on 3rd floor with the mezzanine and cantilevered angled box
Oh, that’s some news I hadn’t heard: hundreds more residents at CV soon.
Anyone else concerned that RUSbus isn’t going to break ground in time? There’s been a whole lot of silence on that front, and, if I understood correctly, they’re supposed to be breaking ground by June in order to keep that federal funding. Haven’t even seen Hoffman’s plans yet.
I hadn’t been, because I forgot. But now that you mention it, yes.
I’m definitely concerned. I just keep hoping that there is no way they could fail to get this started on time and lose the federal dollars.
Does anyone know the precise requirements for the funding? Sorry if it has been listed before…
This is also Hoffmans first project besides Seaboard outside of the District of Columbia and in D.C. projects move slow and I don’t think they have developed a high rise before, but fingers crossed.
Seems like if ouch came to shove, get the permits to ‘break ground’ and finish up a lot of the detailed design after.
What exactly is the June deadline?
I got an email recently from an attorney that worked the rezone case and didn’t sense any concerns with the current state. I am hopeful.
Oh. Uh… it sounded like not much of a cause for concern or discussion to me, so I originally skipped this. But the GoTriangle meeting records I posted about earlier this month had a few paragraphs about the latest (as of last week/Jan. 22) on RUSbus; this may also answer your question, @Kanatenah:
Latest updates are underlined in green.
Maybe someone like @orulz or @dbearhugnc could explain this better than I could, but it sounds like the current holdup is more bureaucratic than anything else? There’s probably a really complicated web of contracts, regulations, liability waivers etc. that need to be checked off in time -assuming the FTA replies quickly enough so that a formal check-in in June can actually happen.
Y’know, just another day in the transit industry?
I’ve not heard anything through my contacts on Jones Street that this is in trouble. Same goes for the FTA. Just slow, which is typical. Not sure how the flow of Federal dollars actually works.
Maybe the deadline is more for having construction contracts signed than shovels in ground.
The attorney I spoke to said it had to be construction post demo.
I guess that they’ll release renderings after construction has begun?
Is the silo between Union Station and Boylan Bridge coming down??
Here’s video as well.
Wow! I hope so! I wish I could be down there to watch it lol
