Imagine if they had used Kudzu for SmoHo I, the entire building would be covered by now.
The jasmine is doing a pretty damn good job. I’ll try to grab a pic tomorrow.
If it doesn’t look like Dylan’s picture, I’m going to be disappointed. Fair warning…
@GucciLittlePig don’t scorn me.
It’s reached the top!!
Do you see Jack up there? Has the giant found him?
Nice! I remember reading about this a long time ago and wondering when it would get installed. Has anyone seen it in person?
This plus the Capital Blvd bridges seem like some nice examples of public art.
Looks like the GoTriangle board will be getting an update on this project in tomorrow’s meeting. Screenshot because I’m feeling lazy. Green text is all new info.
I just saw this in person for the first time today. I thought the design looked like large fingerprints. So nice to see a unique new art installation
With all of these agencies involved. We will be lucky to break ground in this decade…
Is this for the whole project or just the transit portion of the project? This could be a red flag that something might be stalling the rest of the project. #ReadingBetweenTheLines
I mean, like I said before, the BUILD grant says they have to spend all of the federal money by October 2025. So that will happen (at least for the transit portion of this building) as long as no one majorly screws up.
I hope the stalling @Nickster mentioned doesn’t imply trouble for the non-transit-related part of the building, but who knows… any chance someone can find out in today’s GoTriangle meeting? Apparently it starts at noon by webinar.
I’m planning to listen in on that meeting as long as work isn’t too chaotic.
Alright, updates on this project from today’s GoTriangle board meeting:
- As previously stated, they are currently working on 30% design for the transit facility aspect.
- GoTriangle states things are going very well and that they’ve built a great relationship with the developer.
- Construction is projected to start in mid-2022.
- Still working on terms for the joint development agreement (for the rest of the building), but things are “moving along nicely.”
Sounds like both the city and the developer are very actively involved. Presenter expressed a lot of excitement over the project, so I’m guessing things are moving along as planned. Here’s hoping!
Thanks for the update! I guess no mentioning on building specifics e.g. anticipated height etc?
Nope. Though it did sound like the transit center and the rest of the building will be done at the same time. I think they’re trying to get the 30% for the transit portion done first so that they have a framework for how they want the rest of the building to look. That’s just me speculating, though.
City Council docs say that a new cafe is going into Union Station. Mouzone enterprises, which owns Crema in One City Plaza. Lease starts October 1. Will serve coffee, sandwiches, crepes, and pastries.
Glad to finally see a food concession go in.
About time man, something needs to activate that space a bit more.
