Timeless Tuesday
I realize all these pics predated the forum. I have more where this came from but don’t want to spam any more than I already am.

Raleigh Transit Authority Board Meeting on June 10th, 2021 will have an update about the RUSBUS. The discussion about the RUSBUS project is expected to take over 10 minutes and full of new information.

Found a timeline in the slide deck for yesterday’s meeting. Don’t remember seeing some of these dates prior to now.

If we get to September 29, 2025 and they’re having complications drawing the funds, I can help.

BTW, great news! This seems like one of those projects that’s just going to happen. Not rumors nor easily ditched.

To make sure I’m understanding right - this would also include the tower in that area being built on that timeline right?

I think so? Not 100% sure, to be honest.

The “construction must begin by” date is new! The other three dates were brought up last January, though it was hidden in the fine print.

Seems like it, yeah. GoTriangle’s been negotiating the joint development agreement, development services agreement for public improvements, and ground lease agreement with private developers (Hoffman and Associates is leading, I think?) since March.

I like it, but I hope there’s some office in there (doesn’t look like it?)

That big 3-story tall atrium on the 27th floor. I wonder what that’s for? Residents perhaps?

If these are official renderings - looks like 32 floor total. But that is a very nice looking building and would be transformative for the skyline.

And @orulz I could see some office being in the tall tower part. Lots of towers are starting to integrate outdoor space into their office developments.

I love how they give it that “just rained” look in the streets! :cloud_with_snow:

I’m guessing they’re not showing the huge parking deck that is missing from the new renders. Unless those two underground levels are the ‘parking’.

Also of all the project that could use a cool hotel with a large rooftop pool this could have been one.

wait…what happened to this?
they completely chopped off the 2nd tower?

I think that was just an artist rendering for RFPs

Yea I’m totally wrong lol I think this is the design?

Where’d these come from?

I think these are from one of the losing teams. They’re from here, and the description says “text from Ratio,” which leads me to believe this was Ratio Architecture’s proposal. Perkins Eastman was the winning firm.

I’d love for something like this to be built in Raleigh, but I like that the winning design keeps the brick facades of the existing warehouse.

Dang ok oh well, where is their rendering? I really hope it’s not the one @HardeesBiscuit mentioned.

Maybe we will know more after the Raleigh Transit Authority Board Meeting on June 10th.

I like the new renderings, it’s look fits with the area well, I believe. The buses look like they will be on the second floor - that won’t be cheap to build, lol, but I can understand why. the first floor will be far more pleasant.
I do wonder why they put the covered terrace near the top on the south side. I would think looking north has a better, certainly more urban view, and isn’t in the southern sun all summer.

The one @HardeesBiscuit posted is from the latest plans shared with GoTriangle in a progress update which we talked about back in January. I hate to break it to you, but that’s pretty official since it came straight from the source.

(Also, this is why it’s always good to cite your sources: it works as a good reality check and makes it harder to give people false hope for new updates)

@Francisco: The GoRaleigh board was supposed to get an update from city staffers about RUSbus last month, but it seems like they weren’t about to get around to it. I hope we’ll get some interesting news then, too (or at least, that the meeting agenda gets uploaded soon).
