Mother of god is that UGLY AS HELL!!! I’ll take 30 more parking deck podiums and glass boxes over this, THANK YOU VERY MUCH
Looks like a god damn cell phone tower…
Now that’s a trophy supertall if ever one’s been sketched…LoLs
Maybe that middle section retracts into the base to make it more portable. ![]()
Looks like a stick shift for a cubistic automobile.
Indeed, inquiring minds want to know!
Dude you are a breath of fresh air lol ![]()
The groundbreaking is just for the transit center portion of the project. The private development on top is still awaiting financing, last I heard.
So we may just wind up with the Moore Square bus station nightmare for this neighborhood and none of the actual tall building stuff we wanted. Great…
Putting a new transit center next to the train station and activating the block is an objectively good idea, disappointing as the tower being delayed again is.
As long as they build the support beams, the city can always re-submit for a new developer and new project?
Much like the Epicenter in Charlotte. The sub-structure was built and the hotel portion was abandoned for 10+ years before a new developer build a tower on it.
I was just going to type that. The foundations and drilling work would still need to be the same, so the financing still has 6 months or more before that would be in addition to the first couple floors.
So it would start in march 2024
The site review for this project has been approved (10/9). Permits not issued yet. A deep foundation permit has been issued. It says to support a 23 story building. Sad that it got so short.
Wow. That really is a shame. I was completely content with the initial 36 (I think?) but to effectively waste this DX-40 lot for marginally higher than DX-20 is really unfortunate.
Any chance that the foundation support for 23 stories is just for the shorter of the two buildings? It would be a real shame for both buildings to be 23 floors or less after the initial concepts.
Welcome to Raleigh, we aim to underwhelm. ![]()
I am not supporting 23 stories
Luckily they are installing a foundation so you won’t have to.
I can’t remember, but was this a project that bids were submitted? If so, it’s a shame you can bid on a project with a proposal of 36 stories, win it, then build whatever.
I totally agree. It’s really disappointing.
