Raleigh Union Station and RUSbus Facility / Union West

If TC and the folks behind the Omni start really moving, we might be very happy at the influx of Texan money and developers looking to diversify.

Maybe they’ll have renderings of the revised shorter building

Perhaps the latest proposal will be four 5+1 Texas Doughnuts stacked on top of each other. A 5+1+5+1+5+1+5+1, if you will.

If we were to get all the height at this one site at the expense of other sites being 5over1 (think 500 block of Hillsborough), I’d take the "spread the love approach and have more shorter towers with more housing in more parts of downtown every day of the week!

Did they mail that to you down in Florida? Typical…

RaL-Today has reported in today’s email issue that RBus Project will break ground this month October 24th.

We scooped the media, as usual…

I don’t see it on the news

It’s on their website:

I think that this older picture doesn’t include any downsizing that has been done?

This thing will be fun to watch come to life from the Wye Hill/Boylan Bridge POV. Hopefully they keep to the timeline outlined in the article.

Construction has been underway since April 2022, and the first apartments will be ready for residents in fall 2025. Union West is slated for full completion in fall 2026.

Gonna be a great view of a giant block-long parking deck with a newly downgraded box on top!

woo hoo

This would’ve been a box over a parking garage no matter what. Its just a 300’ box instead of 420’. I guess you’re right though, the grass there now is MUCH better.

idk if it’s current, but it’s certainly been updated since the last one we saw.

You can see the tower closest to the view has been pulled in on the west side – like they chopped off the glassy portion.

350 units, here, 280 there, 300 over there, and so on. I’ll take the thousands of new residents living in downtown barely 1 square mile.

I’m totally ok with this. Height isn’t as important as completing the urban corridor experience around the Dillon.

Lost the bridgeway connecting into the train station also… :upside_down_face:
Still, residents and active uses are better than a grass lot - build it while we have the grant :dollar:

With no more access to the RUS via the sky bridge

Yeah I noticed this too, but it wouldn’t really make sense to have the bridge if the hotel portion has truly been removed (which sounds like is the case unfortunately).
