I just round tripped the Copa Airlines flight to Panama this week. It was a very good experience. Flights definitely had some empty seats I hope it can make it.
I’m really loving the dog idea.lamas and dogs. No cats. Denver. I really have to get out more.
Except Charlotte. Just a layover. Totally agree on that one.
Denver is far from airport Eden, it’s miles away from the actual city. Not bad if you have to connect, but Delta’s SLC hub is better. DTW is a nice connection as well.
Every airport has its flaws (except Singapore, that one’s perfect).
smallest city with a hub is Salt Lake City.
AND man on man do they have a nice airport. I just visited SLC in May. Just sayin…
All they need are some dogs or some llamas and they will be golden.
According to Raleigh magazine, Scott Crawford’s place is supposed to open before the end of August where 42nd St used to be, by La Farm.
I’d say Delta does a better job in “designing” their hubs. They invest more and better in them than other US airlines. Whereas Delta has a better experience, American has more volume, so it’s more important in AA’s eyes to push traffic through to their larger network. One look at the product of Delta’s hubs (ATL, SEA, LAX, LGA, Detroit, SLC, MSP) compared to AA hubs (DFW, CLT, PHL, Chicago, JFK, MIA) and it’s obvious.
Fair, but how much influence does the airline have with the hubs/airports themselves? I think Delta lucked out in some cases. When AA came to RDU, we just thru a giant barn like shed up for them.
I was at the airport on Tuesday and they were doing employee training at Crawford.
I’ll say at least in the case of CLT, AA has been very bare bones. They see CLT as a people pusher that is cheap to operate and therefore doesn’t have all the bells and whistles as say DFW. That’s one of the key reasons CLT is such a large hub – it’s cheaper than most airports to operate.
Not sure what it was like at RDU, but I’d say RDU takes the cake for better design.
Yeah we don’t fly AA - we fly Delta. I guess we are snobby like that.
I am a snobby Delta rider too, largely because I want reliable, on-time service. AA always seems to be struggling with some problem. I know a couple folks who have ended up renting a car & driving to Raleigh or Wilmington because of impossible delays on their final leg out of CLT. No airline is perfect, particularly with southern summer weather. RDU is darn lucky to not be a captured market with a diversity of carriers, destinations, and price points.
I have the AA golden handcuffs. I am pushing 2M miles on the airline and it comes with perks and benefits that I can’t pass up. Plus, they have the most flights between Raleigh and Miami, and frankly I don’t have bad experiences with them. I will say that their transatlantic fleet leaves a lot be desired and I’ve taken more than my fair share of crappy planes across the Atlantic, but bonus miles is bonus miles with my status.
Yeah they all get you locked in with that frequent flyer status. And it does depend on where you fly for sure. But once that get you hooked in you just have to stay.
Super nice. Delta actually believes in an overall positive customer experience and spends the money.
Except for that recent kerfluffle around antiquated software lack of spend to upgrade, yes…
Delta is my preferred airline as well, and I think they generally do the best, although they had the worst meltdown with the whole CrowdStrike issue a few weeks ago. I had a trip to Atlanta booked through Atlanta and they cancelled on me. Luckily I bailed and rebooked on Southwest and was able to get to Atlanta.
I had a few colleagues who rebooked on Atlanta and a few of them got huge delays but made it eventually and one had the dreaded 2-hour delay, another 2-hour delay, another 2-hour delay, cancelled.
Yeah it can happen to any of the airlines really and when it does, they suck, no matter how good they have been in the past. It’s all part of modern travel. But for the most part Delta is pretty solid.
