You are missing something. The picture you included is on the other side of the tracks between Kindley and S McDowell
Lots of land over there. “City Gateway” is separate from “Salisbury Square”. And think that hotel project is dead.
I think what we are calling the rocker hand is actually the “I Love You” sign. They are similar, but slightly different.
The rocker hand, or party on sign, also known as the sign of the horns is associated with hard rock and partying. That symbol is offensive in some cultures. That one has the thumb tucked in. ![]()
The one in the renderings looks like the ILY (I Love You) sign, which is made up of the sign language symbols for I,L, and Y. That one has the thumb out. ![]()
I am sorry to complain, but that stage design and particularly the covering, are just ugly and uninspiring. I mean, is it inspired by a storm trooper or Darth Vader’s helmet? Just venting - and not venting at @Drew I appreciate him posting the pics from the insta - its not like there is going to be an change now - but good heavens, could be we any more lame? We get a great city tall, and then …. this? Well, maybe it will fit in well with an equally lame design for the convention center expansion.
Well, if we are going to move away from a music oriented hand sign, then I propose the wolf hand sign! ![]()
Hey man just compare it to the current iteration of Red Hat and it looks like a million bucks ![]()
A million bucks is pushing it. I’m on Jake’s side only because they did a total rug pull between the original roof from the rendering and the Temu version that it got value engineered into
I know that’s how things work around here but I don’t have to like it.
So far, this is the hot take of 2026 for me!
They can fold the flaps down to keep the stage’s ears warm in the winter.
It seems like the stage roof got taller. Or, maybe the stage sides got shorter.
Somehow, from this angle, it is even worse. @Alan nails it with his comment. Maybe we should paint the top red & black check - Canes, Pack, Tractor Supply Storm Trooper Helmet.
No more split level concessions on the left side either. ![]()
I don’t think it’s that bad. Could it be better? sure. But it’s a huge upgrade from the current Red Hat.
Speaking of Redhat, why didn’t they think of something like this for the awning?
The south side is finally seeing some action! Hopefully we can keep up the momentum. Just out of frame is the hotel next to The Acorn Apts as well. This end of town could look very different in 5-10 years, especially if any of the Shaw potential materializes (though at this point it’s kind of starting to feel like the Shaw rezoning was mostly a play to increase the value of their real estate as debt collateral)
Maybe it’s my age, but all I see is the Flying Nun. ![]()
That is too funny. I see it now too, but you difinatently need to be of an age to get that!
Sounds like seating will now be about 200 less than the current spot due to cost overruns.
