I know it’s what the headline says, but is the reduced seating not just due to a smaller lot? I don’t think it’s related to the budget.
“Yeah, we dreamed of it being a bigger, but once we tried to squeeze it on the land, it didn’t get bigger unfortunately. So, we’re still in the same sort of vicinity. It’s a few 200 (seating) tickets less, I believe,” Kerry Painter, Raleigh Convention and Performing Arts executive director over the Red Hat, said.

To me, that quote is kind of unclear. Could also be interpreted to say that they cut 200 seats from the new proposed amount, bringing it to around the existing count.
Existing: 5990
Proposed: “between 6000 and 6500” depending on the news report. I’m not sure what was in the drawings.
So maybe they ended up at 6000.

A little strange they couldn’t wait a year to install it at the new amphitheater, seems wasteful. But maybe they’ve sold enough sponsorships on the LED bracelet that comes with the
