Love how this really shows it coming together and the layout. I didn’t realize how much of an impact this project is gonna have from many spots downtown. Also love seeing the new city hall in the skyline from here.

It looks much cooler in person.

What was the conclusion on capacity? Is it actually smaller than existing?

I just did some poking around and here is what I see:

  • current capacity is listed as 5,990
  • new capacity is listed as “more than 6,000”
  • contractor bid document included 4,500 seats (which matches current number of seats)

So seems to be basically equivalent for capacity.

The same has been said about me.

It really does make an impression seeing it in person tho. It’s gonna be very cool having this and the convention center expansion and the Omni and updated Sheraton (Westin) all in the same area.

I hope that the backside looks good because it’s gonna be in the money shot.

Then IMO that’s where some sort of signage should go “Red Hat Amphitheatre” with - perhaps - their logo. Free advertising in any news about the city when that money-shot pic starts circulating around the press.

The new hand statue now has an electronic sign stating upcoming shows. Drove by it this morning. Hooray!

This photo doesn’t do justice to how dang massive this is going to be at street level. That’s all I can say. You can tell this is meant to be permanent and not some temporary venue.

It’ll take them 2 days to tear down the previous venue. One day for demo. One day to remove the material. :joy:

Yeah, that’s why I said that it’s going to be seen in the money shot. I sure hope that the rear elevation isn’t ugly.
