Thanks Jim! That has changed so quickly…I live around the corner and didn’t recognize it.
“Edenton Court”: 23 three-bedroom townhomes in 3 buildings at Edenton/Tarboro/Boyer block (across from the Cook-Out).
Can they bulldoze cook-out & bojangles as part of the development?
I’d get heart disease really quickly if I lived across the street from CookOut and Bojangles.
Never!
Especially cookout, Great for driving thru to satisfy those late night shake and greasy food cravings after a night out downtown
This doesn’t feel dense enough for this location given the new BRT…
New Bern Ave townhome project densities:
10 Arros: 10 units on .5 ac
Oak City Overlook: 20 units on 0.5 ac
625 New Bern: 18 units on .5 ac
Edenton Court: 23 units on 1 ac
Seems mostly in the same range, maybe could’ve tried a different layout to squeeze in a 4th building? But I think if they were going to really increase density, it’d have to be more of a project like the Lynde with condos above ground floor parking instead of townhomes?
Keep the Cook-Out, food is terrible but the building is pretty sweet. Raze the Bojangles, there is nothing good about Bojangles.
Right, I guess that’s what I’m saying - townhomes are not really the best use of this land on our best transit corridor in my opinion. I think the size/density of the Lynde would have been perfect for this location given the nearby uses. Maybe the Lynde with a 4th story…
yeah we’re gonna need that slow-down feature enacted for this…
this thread is about to explode
it might even need it’s own topic LOL
An urban Bojangles across the street from an urban Cookout. Just add an urban Popeye’s and KFC and we now have a fried Chicken district! Who’s with me?!?
With CookOut already in the walk-up/drive thru model, it’s not a far stretch for them to have just a walk-up model.
28 apartment units across 2 buildings at southwest corner of New Bern & Swain. Parking on ground floor, 2 floors above.
I actually like this. Good use of space on a small lot very close to downtown
That’s good news, this corner could use some attention. The hallway affect Building “A” will create down Swain St. will help this area fell more dense.
Can’t keep all these townhome projects straight. Found this on the architect’s website for the project above, 18 units on New Bern. Which one is this?
I think those are the ones 2 blocks east? … 625 New Bern
I’d prefer something other than parking screening at a corner along New Bern but at 32 du/ac I can’t complain too much.
I like the concept. Does anyone know if the Exploris (The wood pile llc) parcel has any planned activity? If I remember, their plans to consolidate on the Kindley ave have been changed.
