I’ve been seeing progress at 1221 New Bern. It has me intrigued and optimistic for a useful business there. Anybody think the plan is still Taco-roos?

OOOoooooooo, I’m gonna suggest Alamo add some of their neighbors’ baked goods to their menu for purchase!!

A bit out of bounds for our downtown focus but wanted to mention TBJ article due to its significant potential impact. A Raleigh developer charts up to 20 stories for apartments, restaurants and office on Maitland Dr near intersection of New Bern Ave and Trawick.

Tower shopping center goes 20 stories… Wow.

Well, I guess that Tower will actually get a tower now and earn its name.

Why was it ever called Tower in the first place?

I think it was from the old Tower Drive In Theater that used to be there.

Anyone know what is going on with the Oak City Overlook that has been pretty much a stand still for 6 months?

So from what I heard. 6-9 months ago When the builder went in to install the HVAC system. They discovered that they didn’t have a HVAC shaft because I guess they forgot during design. So they needed to redesign the interior to account for it, when framing, etc have all been done. Apparently they also needed to resubmit for permits due to the drastic changes. The buyers were all offered their money back if they want out.

In military parlance a screw-up of such proportions was referred to as an “Ah-shitter”
