It is the most Cary thing I’ve seen downtown. Like stepping through a portal. Love the random Italian villa style one though.

From the Design Review Commission Agenda… Sorry this isn’t downtown, but thought it was interesting being along the first BRT corridor. 3 lots assembled right next to Enloe HS and 35 townhomes proposed.

The lot next to this project went pending last week, curious if they will expand the project scope.

I can’t find the original post but there was talk a few years ago about Atlas Stark buying up Tower Marketplace and putting in a big rezoning request (for up to 20 stories) just before the BRT and TOD zones had been done. The rezoning request ended up being dropped and I had a feeling they’d end up just sitting on the property in “Western Blvd K-mart Style” if you know what I mean. Looks like they have a new less-interesting scaled-down version of what they’re gonna do with it, as seen in this screenshot from their FB page. I was hoping something cool, like Gateway or something but this just seems generic as heck.

Triangle Business Journal has an article but I can’t read it due to not subscribing, FWIW: https://www.bizjournals.com/triangle/news/2025/07/29/atlas-stark-tower-marketplace-ralegh-retail-center.html

Yeah…. the original proposal was going to include some vertical development to include a lot more housing…. which would’ve provided direct customer base for any new retail….

This won’t

I don’t understand why Raleigh has to be so scaled down. This city is way too big now and the sprawl is killing us. It looks like we’re suffering from institutional inertia.

A delivered cold, dark shell does sound inciting ….

The Row at 440, when will life stop imitating South Park, or is even that all in my mind?

New Mexican restaurant has a sign up at 1601 New Bern Avenue. Looks like they may have changed the name to “Comal”.

Stopped in Blotto recently as well. Bar looks awesome!!

Has this site plan been submitted for this?

Yes, this is part of the Board of Adjustment meeting to approve variances in setbacks, etc.

Love it. Been wondering if/when we’d see some redevelopment of this lot (Current Oasis carwash spot) - MUCH better use of the plot, here!

Heck yeah. All that work to get the TOD zoning in place may finally start to reap some reward.
