Rockway Apartments - S. Saunders/Lake Wheeler Developments

I like the balcony railings being installed.

Nimby culture has darn near distroyed the development of our city. Raleigh is underbuilt structurally for its population. Hopefully this social malfunction will come into recognition for a change.

I like the railings, but, dear god, the amount of lines going every direction of this side of the building is enough to require a warning for people with epilepsy!

This building looks better-ish from a far :man_shrugging:t4: but obviously the parking deck ruins the overall look.

Their website shows the skyline views concept; but, I’m pretty sure that is Charlotte!

Nice catch!

What parking deck? It’s camouflaged and this invisible.

One of America’s most underrated skylines IMO, and only getting bigger and better every day!

Pic needs to be updated! Missing the Deloitte, 600 S Tryon, Ally, JW, FNB, Honeywell, and new Duke Energy towers.

and by the time @Mitch can even upload a better, more updated picture- that will then be out of date!! Seriously, Charlotte has to have one of the most rapidly expanding skylines outside of NYC and Chicago. Every time I drive into Charlotte it looks like a new city.

Thought that was gonna happen here when I moved down in 2009… Instead we get an average of 1 decent sized building every 2 years.

You can get a great visual impression of how rapidly skylines are expanding from this graphic, which @JByrne recently linked to in his Top Five email.

It looks like Charlotte’s skyline is expanding even more rapidly than Chicago’s, although not as fast as Nashville or Austin.

I think Austin and Nashville have taller buildings going up currently than Charlotte, which from how I interpret that map skews the numbers a little bit. More tall buildings were built in Charlotte prior to 2000 than either of those cities as seen by the linear progression in the Charlotte graph, so by this point new buildings have to be fairly tall to be included in that graph. Raleigh looks closer to Charlotte, than Charlotte does to Austin or Nashville, but it’s pretty clear irl that Charlotte’s skyline is continuing to pull away from most southeastern cities.

Excuse the pole in the middle but I’m kinda digging the balconies at the Row (Rockaway)

Me too, I just rode by there to see the new Sunflower Poles and the progress made on the Gipson play plaza👌🏽

Was there any progress on the mural they started painting over the exposed parking deck?? (of Rockway)

I think so :face_with_diagonal_mouth:, it seems like they’re prioritizing the multi-use path and balconies at the moment though.

That’s fair enough - those things are needed to get the place move-in ready, they can finish painting whenever. They just … better!

Paint is going up. Missed opportunity to create a whole district of seafoam green buildings!

Wow well that definitely makes this look cooler! Still sad about the lack of entirely Seafoam Green though…
