I would imagine the developer realizes part of the appeal for their development will be proximity to places like Durham Distillery. They’ll figure it out.
Don’t know about that Lardie guy, though.

Over in Cary the Bull City Ciderworks is open. Their bourbon cider cocktail is pretty tasty. Cozy nice looking spot. Also, the downtown park is really coming along. Wish that we had this in Raleigh…
Good to see their downtown densify but…it must be said, for always
Cary = Boldly_Masterful_Hyberpoble
Seems a bunch of threads have (d)evolved into CLT comparables…
I’m not sure that’s ever healthy for any denizens of either place BUT…I wanted to posit a couple screenshots and ask the question : what IF we got light rail but it only serviced a very small percentage of the market and only within an isolated vector within the beltline with no connectivity to key regional connectors / neighbors…would it serve our desires much less our needs ?
Maybe our (very slow) and (not flashy) plan of step by step increases in service at all levels of transportation assistance IS the right path…?
Here’s some info to consider :
And yet, there’s this counterpoint which maybe offers some context and perhaps bolsters the increased bus frequency argument overlayed with commuter rail for regional connection.
BTW, 107th in the nation is nothing to crow about and that ranks higher than CLT including its enviable 9mi zeitgeist…Seems maybe elevating frequency and diversifying our options is best course next decade or two and damn the torpedos if that ain’t flashy enough for some…?
Been thinking about this for awhile and a thread that just shows off things from other NC cities, especially other Triangle cities, is just like the other city forums. If this post gets over 25 likes, I’d like to ban all posts here showing off things around our state.
It’s much more interesting to look further around the country and abroad, rather than what our neighbors are doing. What say you good people?
I think maybe a thread dedicated to non-Raleigh NC would be a good change. It seems most people still want to talk about Durham, Charlotte, and other NC cities, but it is probably clogging up the real initial purpose of this thread.
Not to sound like a hypocrite, but in town for the Charlotte FC game tomorrow night. I have some buddies down here who are season tickets holders. Even with the Ukraine lights, this building looks hella ugly in person
I we had density like this and an MLS team.
I’m still backing this man @jdb820 he’s still right hey I dm you on Twitter Jason.
Raleigh has buildings in similar designs The Truist building & The Wells Fargo building. Y’all don’t call those buildings ugly there’s no excuses.
You may need to sit down for this, but I have some shocking news for you about which city is denser, Raleigh or Charlotte.
Spoiler: It is not Charlotte.
Those condos/apartments are going to have a nice view of that park when it’s all done! I’d love to see some similar buildings surround Devereaux Meadows once that’s completed.
One of my favorite things about living in Raleigh is its proximity to other cities. I like seeing what’s going on in Cary, Durham, etc. I also feel like what happens in Durham or Cary affects us just as much as North Hills does. Whether it’s inspiration like the discussion about converting 147 into not a highway, or competition when Durham gets a big company hub locating there.
I do agree that a lot of the threads here go off topic especially when bringing in other cities near or far. I’m fine with not including Triangle or NC cities in this particular thread if that’s what people want. But I still think a What’s Happening in the Rest of NC thread would be useful for people interested. People not interested can just mute it, and it won’t exist for them.
“Meow Wolf is an arts and entertainment company based in Santa Fe, New Mexico. We create immersive and interactive experiences that transport audiences of all ages into fantastic realms of story and exploration.”
They have permanent and semi-permanent installations in Las Vegas, Santa Fe, and Denver. It seems like such a unique experience.
I’d be surprised if we couldn’t support something similar with our robust and diverse art + tech communities across the Triangle. I think we are weird enough. Fun enough. Definitely not the “b”-word, so shush!
Miami is not lacking for condo demand still. I’ve been visiting Miami for 25 years and there’s always been a lot of construction.
A lot of those are basically used as safe place to park international money more than as an all-year place to live. Similar to the Billionaire’s Row skyscrapers in NYC or half the new-builds in London.
A lot of those units are owned by investors but many are lived in by locals as renters. The market in Miami is crazy. It’s up and down, boom and bust, and it all happens very quickly.
I “think” he meant skyline wise.
My favorite part of Charlotte is the feeling of buildings all around myself in Uptown.
Sparks Marina Park in Sparks, NV. a former pit mine that was remediated. i think its deepest part is 160 feet. it has a wide paved 2 mile trail around the circumference. one side is bordered by a small casino-motel with a few different restaurants. the other side by row homes that back right up to the walking trail alongside an outlet mall and a small mixed use bldg. has two boat lauches for small craft (i used to sail on it), sand volley ball courts, covered picnic tables with grills and a cordoned off swimming area. never shuts down…lights on all the time.
Step by step is a good thing. I think that light rail is overrated. If we gave busses their own lanes and allowed free boarding (not needing everyone to swipe), then it would be competitive with light rail.
On a different note, I think Chapel Hill’s transit is overrated as well. If we picked a small portion of Raleigh similar to the size of Chapel Hill, we should see the transit is just as good (if not better) than Chapel Hill.
