I enjoyed it. Seems like a cool little town. How about the 203489234 lawyer offices surrounding the courthouse? I feel like that’s a waste of cool historic buildings that could house more shops and restaurants. Whatever though, that’s above my paygrade.
he actually is starting in winston-salem!
just shared his plans in this live stream, says he wants to maximize his time in nc
I couldn’t see Austin for all the decrepit signs everywhere. Big tall Texas-style skyscrapers and wooden signs everywhere. I
the sign ordinance. Raleigh = city in a forest (first and foremost). ![]()
I do wonder how the garishly horrible vape store & hookah lighting passes our Raleigh sign ordinance.
Agreed about the vape store “branding” I see in Raleigh. I think that garish is being too polite.

More like other worldly! ![]()
We’ve been by that. It’s definitely cooler looking than ours. Maybe we can trade? Do they want an alleged Kimpton?
“One of the most successful pedestrian streets in the world, the Strøget in Copenhagen was filled with cars until a 2 year pilot project in 1962. The opposition argued ‘no cars means no business’ but the street has been a massive retail success, the city’s busiest shopping street”.

Kills me whenever I see folks lamenting the impending loss of our hair-curler saying it’s so “iconic” and “unique” lmao. I always have to chime in and say that it’s inarguably NEITHER of those things ![]()
It’s as iconic as all of the SkyHouse Apartments that are also built in a particular model and scattered across Sunbelt boomtowns.
In the QC…this resi tower has another ~40 floors to go before topping out. The parking lot on the bottom left should be starting construction in a few months and will rise to around 35 floors.
That was a mockup from Neom. The world’s longest infinity pool on top of a bridge that’s also a hotel. Not likely to happen but still technically on this planet
go pack!?

After the failed transit funding vote years ago, Nashville plans to unveil a new 4 line Bus Rapid Transit System–including a route to the airport. Weird…almost sounds like some other city but as far as I’m aware this other city hasn’t even moved much dirt on their project. ![]()
That’s weird, they were able to make this happen within their current budget. I was told that raising taxes, especially property tax, was the only way these projects get funding.
Our BRT will probably break ground after another half a percentage increase in property taxes are approved, then several years to allocate those funds, but by then everything cost more, so another bond.
