Did you check out the tracks out back? It’s one of the largest motocross training facilities in the country, they’ve repurposed the unused motels and have kids live and train on site.

No. I didn’t see that. I only hit the greatest hits along that one internal road.
They have kids live???
Oh, kids live, as in they stay there. Not live as in the opposite of android, or inanimate, etc.
This is now the most absolutely random fact I know. WTF hahaha
Yea it’s kinda random, although surprisingly the NC area is the mecca of moto for the whole country, not CA anymore. I used to ride there often, but my two-year-old isn’t riding gas bikes yet, so my riding days at the tracks have been less frequent.
NC maintains the #5 most visited state in 2024 even with Helene. Lets keep us in the top 5 spend a night or two or week somewhere else in NC. Mecklenburg #1 county and Wake is #2.
In last year I have spent nights in Raleigh, Morrisville, Wilmington, New Bern, Atlantic Beach, Asheville, Cherokee, Franklin etc yes even Greensboro. None which were business trips. Visit NC first!

If we LIVE in NC, and visit another PART of NC… does it still count as VISITING NC???
LOL
Yes it does. I live in Charlotte and I have plenty of overnight stays in NC. Instate tourism is important and I would imagine most Raleigh residents when they head to the beach stay in NC with some leaking out to SC.
Oh I know man, I was just playing
40 towns you need to see in western NC (okay a couple are parts of Asheville) There is a literally a town that meets every type of visitor.

Love Blenheims. Used to drink it more often when I was in living in SC. It’s hard to find around here.
I have been able to find it locally at Rocket Fizz in Quail Corners shopping center
Durham looking very CITY lately. What I would do for 2-3 projects of this height and scope in Raleigh…
As long as we have the Livables here, we aren’t likely to have livable buildings such as the ones in this photo. #tallbuildingsrock #whycantRaleigh #justsaynotoNIMBYs
If anything, Durham is worse than Raleigh about that. These 2 buildings are absurdly priced condos in the middle of downtown that were approved many years ago. I don’t remember how much pushback there was, but both have some setbacks at the base that help them integrate with the street level.
Didn’t I read that both also fall under the city’s 300 ft limit?
What you don’t see are all the buildings the NIMBYs successfully stopped. Heritage Park had a rezoning request which the council rejected and now that lot will sit empty and unused for another decade.
NIMBYs also killed the proposal for refitting Northgate into a dense urban neighborhood. Instead it will be a strip mall.
Well somehow Durham managed to make a few tall buildings happen whereas Raleigh has thus far failed. We can sorta get to 20 stories on a good day as Kane has shown. Maybe a little higher in Midtown. But so far DTR zero and the NIMY group times 40 stories. They are very vocal and just as organized.
