Show Off Things From Other Cities

Technicality, but RapidScale moved offices in the last 5 years but we established our first office downtown off Fayetteville St in 2017 (Regis in BoA building) then moved to our “own” space next door in 2018. Later moved to 510 Glenwood for a few years before they moved to 301 Hillsborough (Pendo building). I left the company while they were still at 510 Glenwood.

I would have to take issue that uptown Charlotte is a dead zone after business hours. Unless you don’t count the many events at the Spectrum Center home of the Hornets, the Bank aka BofA Stadium (concerts, NFL games, MLS games) and all our performing arts facilities uptown the Blumenthal, Carolina Theater, etc. I love Raleigh but your arena should have been downtown decades ago. Plus uptown Charlotte is a neighborhood of about 20,000 residents too.
As for the Capital Group they will open up an office in uptown Charlotte taking 100-150K sq ft of space. They are like Vanguard and TIAA already in Charlotte or Fidelity in RTP.

I finally visited the Downtown Cary Park. I had to laugh at all of the safety signs, and especially the ones that say…

…especially when it’s literally on stairs next to a slide.

Final night of service on the DC Streetcar – and yet more proof that fixed-rail transit by itself, even with a growing regional economy, favorable zoning along the corridor, and fairly generous local funding (which even allowed it to bypass federal procurement rules), is not a silver bullet.

We took a long lunch today and drove out to Wilson to take the kiddo to the Whirligig Park. I hadn’t been and it was pretty nice. It ended up being an unplanned look at the Wilson Stadium too, which looks like it’s ready to go for the upcoming season. Seems like a great place to be on Summer weekends. Casita Brewing wasn’t open so will have to save that for the next visit.

I was showing someone around uptown Charlotte on Saturday and he mentioned how much he really like Raleigh. He was from Nashville. He said it looked better than Nashville in terms of trees and looked overall better kept. I agreed. (and yes he liked uptown Charlotte too had not been here in 10+ years) but evidently more recently to Raleigh.
