Show Off Things From Other Cities

I know lol but 40 stories would look perfect in that area though, if it has a modern design that’s similar to that building.

Probably as much as a new 3000 sq ft house 20 miles away. Because who wouldn’t want to buy a tiny hotel room in scenic downtown Durham?

They’re greener, cheaper in the long run, faster and nimbler (because electric trains can accelerate more quickly than diesel), quieter, and smarter -but somehow a new-and-untested thing: New Jersey is experimenting with battery-electric trains.

If their trial run works well, it could be a good way for the Triangle’s commuter rail to be electrified without going through the billion-dollar price tag that Silicon Valley’s CalTrain had to endure.

May update to January post…

There’s a 3D model now of the elaborate Cary Downtown Park. This is likely a game changer for downtown Cary. There’s been other posts in this thread about it but this was updated from WRAL today from a January original post they did.

Just in downtown Cary on Tuesday, and it’s amazing to see how many crappy old buildings (like 1 story brick strips, closed auto repair shops, a gross former motel) have been demolished in the last week or two, and how many new buildings are popping up… or about to. A huge focus on building up the residential base and some more workers to support the growing retail/food/beverage businesses. Kind of similar to DTR 10 years ago. We had the restaurants and bars, and then the residents started wanting to move in.

Don’t let the NIMBYs find out about this! This is even worse than tall building shadows…

I’ve toured some towers under construction in China, and it’s a wonder that any of them are still standing, or that folks haven’t died in fires.

God those videos suck. SHOW THE BUILDING, WTF.

My experience with every news site. Freakin CNN just starts playing random videos with sound while I’m trying to just read the article. I’m old and remember the internet without videos and ads. It was glorious.

I’m just going to drop these pictures of great streetscapes in Boston.

Video on Downtown Cary’s park expansion. Looks awesome.

I hope the city of Raleigh can get their stuff together like Cary has and really make Dorothea Dix and Derveaux Meadows exceptional parks.

FIFTY MILLION DOLLARS on Carys downtown urban park?
Wow.
I had no idea it was that much of an investment.
Living in Cary I’m happy to see it coming. I’m just surprised how expensive it is. Yowza.

Not even that, I meant the videos of the “building shaking” themselves- didn’t even show the building for more than 2 seconds, just the people running. I do not care about watching 100 people running, I clicked on it to see the damn building shaking.

I completely agree! I want to see the building shaking. I can see people running just by looking out my window, but it’s not everyday that you see a building sway!

If I had to guess, the Chinese government didn’t let any video out of it actually shaking

That’s what VPN is for, regardless of its illegality.

This is incredible, let’s hope New York returns somewhat back to normal soon, I would really like to check this out in person.
