100% agree. It’s also incredibly dangerous trying to merge in / out when the GP lanes are slow and the Managed lane is at 70 mph
Yeah I mean separated HOV lanes
Yeah Boston is bustling with growth, it’s really beautiful there. Cambridge is beautiful as well, especially around MIT’s campus.
Yeah Boston is great to visit. But you think we have affordable housing issues here? I’m a scientist and I moved here because I could never afford a home there. I don’t know how any normal people do it, except to live far away and drive an hour a day each way. I do love Boston though. Very cool and manageable city. Their public transit is also way ahead of here. It’s also horribly cold most of the year…
My sister and her husband lived in Cambridge for a couple years. They could afford a one-bedroom a few train stops away from her job at Kendall Square. Covid opened up the floodgates to WFH, so she got a 3-bedroom house back home in Raleigh. The mortgage is less than half of what their rent was. It’s nice to visit, but living is something else.
As a transplant from Boston, I love seeing the pictures, but am so grateful to have found the Triangle.
Agree - I lived there (well, Charlestown) for a few years and don’t miss living there at all but think it’s a good place to visit. Part of the issue of living in a very expensive place is that in order to be able to afford it, you need a job that pays a lot, which in my case translates to working very long hours. If I’m working nights and weekends then I can’t enjoy where I live, so what’s the point of living there? It never made sense to me. I also remember the cover of Boston Magazine the month I moved there - the lead story was “Rude Boston” and basically advocated for being rude to get what you want since the alternative doesn’t work…
I feel like people often mistake rudeness for honesty and people down here are unnecessarily nice. Its annoying.
We moved here four years ago and been here long enough to realize that living in New England was like being in an abusive relationship and we have finally found recovery in a safe house. I’m not sure why poor behavior is valued in Boston, but they take it to a new level. It’s a great place to visit from June through early September, has great seafood and baseball team, but happy to have found our place here.
Proximity to Nantucket was nice, too. I was thinking about Nantucket the other day and how I need to get back there one day…
I am from New England so I’m not confused. There are ways to be honest without being an a-hole. It’s possible!
I also think people mistake honesty with rudeness. There is a balance there to be sure.
My brothers and I grew up saying “Its too humid to be rude.”
You never know when the weather will make someone snap, particularly before wide spread air conditioning.
Many years ago as a college student I was a lifeguard at Cliffside Beach Club for the summer on Nantucket. It was a magical time.
Ahh the water feature that DTR can only and does dream of…
You gotta wait for some serious sea level rise for that!
Give it a few hundred years and we’ll get there!
Please raise me from the dead when the time comes!
Looks like @GucciLittlePig believes you’re going to have hair when you’ve risen from the dead as a zombie.
