You want narrow medieval streets. I give you York’s Shambles. A delightful experience just steps away from York Minster. A highlight on a wonderful trip to be best man at my cousin’s wedding in Scotland.

Even better, “No Fee Rentals”.
The Dylan is the best! :joy:

Beautiful Tampa waterfront lined with river walks, restaurants, hotels, and waterfront arena and even a water taxi.

Also equally beautiful is the St Pete pier which is a new development stretching about 1/4 mile into Tampa Bay filled with weekend flea markets, parks, trails, restaurants, splash pads etc

Yeah, compared to Jax, Tampa/St Pete has it going on. Jax would be my last pick of nearly every FL city.

Outside of the waterfront, downtown Tampa is surprisingly kind of sad though. St Pete seems to have more after hour activity and a much better food scene.

Jax would actually be near the bottom of my list of ANY larger city in America.

Yeah, downtown Tampa is a lot of podium parking and very little street life once you go a block past the river. St. Pete does have a very nice downtown.

Downtown Jax is a total dud. However, there are some nice neighborhoods, just outside of downtown that are semi-urbanish (sorta). And then lots of nice areas by the beaches. Definitely an odd city. Lots to do, but spread out, and with no real city center.

i don’t know if folks have been to downtown durham recently, but there are currently 4 cranes up with a fifth likely coming soon with the vega (the new condo project). DTR better catch up! haha.

I’m in Ann Arbor right now and this really shows you what a high density of shops and eats can do to an area. It’s been active all day since about 10am when we got here. Plus, this outdoor seating is top notch. I guess it helps when the high is 76°. Man, wishing for more retail in DTR.

Oh and bike lanes to make you want to go .

I was just there too and loved it!

Can’t argue against a large water feature in a downtown. This thing here called a “river” in downtown Columbus is spectacular!

I love the Scioto River area! And the Arena District is right down the street!
(my dad lives 15 minutes away and here are some shots from a few years ago)

Beautiful pictures all…And a water feature (river, creek, ocean, etc.) really does add a lot. I am jealous! However, and I can’t believe I am saying this…it’s too clean, straight and narrow looking.

Maybe add a few of these:

I’ve been to Cincinnati twice and really liked it both times. I’m legit planning a future trip for big cities in Ohio and Pennsylvania, maybe Michigan. Lamest sounding vacation on paper, but I think there’s a lot of cool architecture and hidden gems up there. Your recent trip and some people I know in those places are further cementing this in my mind.
