Sites 2 & 3, Omni CC Hotel + Tower

That would change the entire plans, no? I would imagine they’ll just repurpose some of the office floors for hotel now. I’m just keeping these expectations NICE N LOW!

There’s no office floors on this one. Levels 3 and 4 of the podium are ballroom / conference rooms.

Ohhhh that’s what I’m confusing that with - well perhaps then they’ll drop the conference room floor… but you’d think a high quality hotel will want to keep Ballroom/conference room space for big money events… shoot, I’d LOVE it if it ends up being 2-stories taller!!!

Given the proximity to the Convention Center, and what I know about Omni properties, it would seem really short-sighted to drop their own convention and event space.

The ASR shows Fayetteville St punching through to South St now. That seems new?

No, I thought it was always the plan to extend Fayetteville

Correct, that’s a separate project that is removing Lichtin Plaza for more drop-off service for the PAC.

Short mention of the Omni in this TBJ update. Mentions it plans to go from 553 rooms to 600 and that could mean “a couple of additional floors.” Also expected in 2028, can’t remember if that’s different than before.

I have more bad news for the haters out there. Another (THE?) signature DTR project is officially underway. Contractors onsite this morning confirmed to me that the parking lot is now closed to prepare for construction. It was open through this past weekend. Crews are onsite doing surveying right now and cones block the entrances. I know we haven’t seen final site plans but things are starting to happen in preparation.

Best news I could get on a Monday!

I know you say this half (maybe) jokingly, but none of us hate downtown. We hate that projects keep falling through or getting severely downgraded. We love when things like this get started. Great news for sure!

Holy hell!!! Not to be that guy, but I’ll be that guy… As a geologist who spent YEARS behind drill rigs, if the mast is up, you MUST have a hard hat on. Where is the H&S person on site?

I love the way you framed this. I started reading it as “bad news” but then of course, I’m not a hater so, yay! More shadows!!

Odds we have cranes up for this and high line before 2026?

High Line crane should be up by winter 2025… but this one might be digging underground to connect to the existing underground parking at that end of Fayetteville (?) so this one might take longer to start going vertical. The surface parking lot nature of this site is misleading, I think, because there will likely be just as much demo and prep-work to do before they can get a crane going as there is/was for High Line.

Looks like they are getting core samples for the geotechnical report to help the structural engineer team with their work component.

Nah. 3 levels of underground parking but not connected to any other underground parking.

Yep, 100% geotechnical work. They tend to use… smaller/wimpier (I’m being nice) rigs than we use for drilling wells.

That’s gonna be a BIG hole in the ground!!!
