Smoky Hollow Phases 1, 2, and 3

The Wake County General Services Center. Google Maps

The light configuration on the two level porches at night time is a really nice addition. I will try and get a picture sometime this evening.

I noticed it driving in one night last week. Has a super futuristic vibe, love it!

My one complaint about the design of Phase 2. Why did they have to put that awful red rigid paneling on the Johnson St side of The Line Apartments? Why not more brick there?

Yeah I keep thinking the same thing. I don’t even mind that kind of panelling, but the color and placement just look so bad.

I’m still wondering what’s going on with the unfinished side of phase 1’s parking deck. Like, what happened to that artwork Kane’s team mentioned?

FYI I heard through the grapevine that tenants are starting to move into the phase 2 apartments at the end of the month.

Hopefully the promising vaccines will prompt tenants to sign on the dotted line.

I also think its a miss the way the ā€œhollowā€ ends at the entrance to phase 1’s parking on Johnson. That seems like a shame.

Hoping for some retail stores. There’s plenty of restaurants/bars on Glenwood (not that I won’t mind having more). Lack of downtown retail has been a topic for a while.

Here is a picture of the lights at night on two of the porches, I believe a few more are left to illuminate. Sorry for the blurry picture, a friend of mine was driving my car and got carried away.

is that tan square a wood board where they just haven’t installed glass yet, or is it wood paneling? I can’t tell.

Without being on the porch itself I’m not 100% for certain. But from ground level it looks like hardwood paneling that continues onto the ceiling as well.

Drove by tonight and it is horizontal wood(esque?) panelling, not plywood. Looks pretty good.

those pics are not really showing anything new we haven’t seen in last 5 mos. They are focusing on the details someone need to take photos of those, they have gotten landscapers etc now, those bird view is old stuff (wouldn’t worried about stamping your name there lolz)

You go in and take pictures, then.

I’m not sure the point of your comment. Are you saying I should stop posting updates, or that your opinion is that I don’t need to put my name on pictures that do get copied into other outlets on occasion?

I agree not much has changed, but some stuff has changed, and I’ve found at least a few people in this forum find those slight changes and details useful and interesting. I’m sorry if you’re offended or the post wasted your time.

well simply I’m saying that we need new updated photos of the area. I live near here and I am seeing the progress happening each day-at this point it’s at the detail level. They have the big picture in place mostly and fine tuning details, and I think people will be surprised. This is slowly taking shape and that is what needs be captured (thought of doing myself). So those photos are nice but not adding to the value significantly so having the name there is not needed imo. I think when it’s all done they would be more useful to see then.
