It’s a splash! The object landed in the bottom right and the spray is coming out from there, so it naturally has more white space on the outside. It’s just hard to see because they started with the outside of the spray.

I feel like that one was forced. 
The exit off of capital onto Johnson is no longer going to be free flowing through Harrington. They’re converting it to a four-way stop today.

Even worse, people at the three stop signs would make decisions like the cars coming down from Capital were going to stop.

I wonder if that will back up onto Capital. But yeah the 3 way stop is terrible. It’s the same thing going into Wegmans/Trader Joes, half the people stop coming in without needing to, and everything just becomes a cluster.
What they need is a roundabout! Lol

I actually emailed the city about this intersection awhile back after it was last discussed here. Glad to see they’re making this change. I don’t think traffic backups onto southbound Capital will be pervasive; even if it does, it should only go into that far right-hand lane.

Yeah it was a disaster. Good idea in theory, but people are dumb. I also thought signage needed to improve for the incoming free flowing traffic. That said I think the 4way stop should be perfectly fine. There may be an occasional moment or two where traffic backs up on Capital.

3-way stops with a 4th free flowing is a disaster. I was going to use the Wegman’s example as well.
People have a hard enough time with 4-way stops. 3-way is just asking for a cluster.

do not understand why the north bound ramp down to Peace was not keep and made a left turn only no to Peace. Would have taking a lot of load off Johnson and the confusion on how it get to Peace 
.
Forgot to mention this earlier, but I spoke w/ one of the employees at J. Lights in Durham on my lunch break a couple of weeks ago, and he told me that the Raleigh location should be opening up in mid-late September.
I’m expecting the hollow to start seeing alot more life this fall once this and everything else begins to open up.

The city wants to build higher. I will say though, recessions and pandemics still kill business-led projects. The Edison ended up getting booted after the recession and wasn’t revived.

To make things easier just upzone all downtown to Smoky Hollow to 40-stories. Just give the f%@$ it and do it…
