I am on the business side of office fit ups, and it’s definitely a challenge these days. For my latest project from first engagement with the leadership to occupancy took 18 months, and both labor and supply chain took their toll on the process. If you are trying to do something unique, interesting, or special, it will definitely slow the process.
Was told by a knowledgeable source that a few new F&B tenants may be coming to the Hollow, including a pizza place in the former J. Lights space, an Indian restaurant and an ice cream spot (not Salty Paws).
I like pizza and ice cream…
Heck yeah! A good pizza joint downstairs of my apartment would be my dream come true.
Hell yes, DTR could use a good Indian spot. Lime & Lemon is just a hair too far away for walking. Very happy about that.
Stopped by New Anthem yesterday. They have glasses now!
I hope the pizza place has at least some nice dining space. Something like Vic’s in City Market would be perfect.
We stopped by in the evening as well. I was underwhelmed but of course very supportive. It wasn’t busy at all which is unusual compared to most days we walk/drive by.
Madre progress. Also checked out New Anthem with our Durham friend. See, it’s a draw for the area! Had some little pictures of their logo or something on the walls, glasses, and some pretty solid beer. Even ran into Jed from our last photo walk there.
Edit met the owner and got a little tour. The place is looking pretty awesome inside. Looking for late May opening. Focusing on Spanish but also Adriatic, Italian, etc stuff as well. Looking forward to this more than anything over here honestly.
You mean @tylerhelikson and @JByrne ?
For those that were questioning the office space in this development, here is a grand opening party happening on a Friday night.
Gross. Is there a manager I can speak to about the noise/people having fun? I’ve lived in Raleigh 435 years, which makes my opinion at least 435% more valid than you, and I remember when this was all a barren wasteland. Why does change happen?

An idea of what Madre will look like open and activated. @tylerhelikson also did a great job with the landscaping around the restaurant.

This foyer / vestibule extension into the sidewalk would help a ton of buildings on Fayetteville street feel more approachable / inviting.
Got to try out New Anthem tonight. Was pretty decent. Will definitely go back.
