I mean that’s what I’ll do. Probably ride a Citrix cycle to the nearest dock walk up Harrington or Johnson thru the garage if I can get in that way.
No I can’t delete my post or upload pics.
Why would you want to delete your pictures or post?
You’ll be able to do that, but it doesn’t look like there will be much pedestrian oriented infrastructure within that garage, so you’ll likely be walking in the driving lanes. I’m still going to do it.
Awesome pictures! Thank you!
Man the unfinished center of the building has got that Chernobyl look. Great pics as always.
I was having problems uploading them and was trying to start over.
Your last picture is quickly becoming my new most favorite shots of DTR…and I thank you!
Awesome pics @OakCityDylan. Dang there are a lot of compressors up on that roof!
nice pictures!
that pool will have a solid three hours of sunshine
@KenAA here is a pic during the concrete pours. My best guess is that each floor of the parking deck has access to the residential elevator lobby.
I need a little help from this forum. Someone posted a comment on Nextdoor that they were against the rezoning because a 40 story building would cast a shadow on Oakwood and it made me wonder how valid a concern that was. So I found a website that calculates just that.
I used gps coordinates of 35, 47", 17.02’ N and 78, 38", 39.12’ W. Height of 600 ft and a time of 1800 hours. I wasn’t sure about the time zone number…I used -5. It gave me a shadow length of 2006.04. Will someone check my calculations?
You have got to be kidding me! This may be one of the dumbest comments I have read on this forum.
Are the comments mostly positive (for) or negative (against)?
More in favor than against. A number of people are concerned about affordable housing (which is a totally separate issue) and someone commented that the parcel was “too far away from downtown” for a 40 story building. Go figure.
My sister lives in his district and said that most supported it based on the responses she had read. That was early this morning. I asked her to respond “Increase the tax base not the tax rate”.
Unfortunately, people like Cox need just one negative response to re-enforce his views on killing this project.
Pretty much, looking for the echo chamber, not the actual responses. He can pick and choose from a list of reasons to not approve, and ignore all the ‘for’ responses.
Well, David Cox’s position is worn on his sleeve by how he introduces the topic and basically leads the reader to that water when he says: “There has been a long standing expectation that tall buildings are appropriate for the downtown core with heights tapering down as you move towards the edge of downtown.”
He’s all but asking people to give him negative feedback.
As for the ignoramus who is worried about a 500 ft tall building casting a shadow on a neighborhood that’s a kilometer away, well, that’s just laughable. I mean, seriously, nobody is asking to build the Burj Khalifa.
