@JosABanks, the pit is there and looks greener than ever!
It looks deceivingly flat and green. Great shot. Maybe some day there will be something to compare it to.
Just install a fountain, some trees, maybe a playground, and call it a park.
Recent evidence that Sam Jones is still happening with a spring 2020 estimated opening:
Hasn’t changed in a while. Goodnight is methodical when it comes to his rehabs. I really hope they keep the Dusty’s name somehow.
Sam Jones at Dusty’s Garage or something. Idk.
Looks like some movement on the 8 townhomes project coming to the empty area at 603 S West St. (City View Townes). Setbacks adjustment application recently submitted to the city.
It seems they have started initial clearing of the SE block at West and Lenoir for the town homes going there.
This is the kind of gap filling stuff I love.
Does anyone know the status of the bar that was supposed to go in the building at 518 W. South St? (Vault Craft Beer)
Last I heard it was still going to happen but no timetable (and I heard that awhile ago)
Just got a notice in the mail that there is a proposed rezoning for 601 W South Street aka the Pit(without food) aka the big hole in the ground.
It’s been over three years… the developer is basically just squatting on the land at this point.
Zoning is to change from NX-3-UL to NX-4-UL-CU
aka Ice Market (RIP) aka The Lynde. The renderings on the site have been 4 floors since they announced it, but maybe the 2nd floor of the 3rd floor units doesn’t count.
It says the top floors are double height so maybe they didn’t realize the 3 story zoning is too short or maybe there are changes coming. I don’t care how tall it is or what it even looks like at this point, I’d just really like to be rid of this pit and the construction fencing that creates a blind corner at South and S Saunders.
Agreed - I will be at the meeting (next Tuesday, 11/5) and will update the group if no one else beats me to it.
Neighborhood message board notes that the houses at the corner of S Saunders and Dorthea Dr are being demo’d. Could be the start of the “brownstones” designed by the same firm that did the little houses of Dorthea Gardens and Caraleigh on Maywood.
We prefer tall and svelte!!
I’m assuming this was before the very legal and serious No Trespassing was painted on the outside of the buildings.
(I’ll be glad when they are gone. Little kids would play in them allegedly and they attracted rats, trash at least one fox for sure and maybe a coyote …)
Don’t forget about the people that slept in them. Someone died in one 3-4 years ago. I’m guessing all these trees are coming down.
Here’s some before pics from Leo’s 2017 post.
