Honestly if we were replacing these buildings with high end stacked boxes I’d accept it, and I think plain glass boxes are slick - the likelihood we’ll get one of those try hard every-cheap-surface-treatment-at-once buildings feels high though.
Actually it’s state property so the chances of anything being built in our lifetimes is low. Yay!
I’m not sure I would say brutalism intentionally tries to look hostile and imposing, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It honestly comes down to how well the building was designed and cared for after it was built. Some brutalist buildings are gorgeous.
But again, I recognize the subjective, and albeit controversial nature of the style. I’ll restrain from a Brutalist history lesson for now…lol
Oh.
That crane is underwhelming … why no boom?
The yellow crane is putting up the boom. You could say that it’s literally bringing the boom.

I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m trying to delete
Ok…
Duh hahaha. I feel dumb.
Come onnnnnn I know somebody has a view of the full boom!!! Let’s see it!!!
Hell yeah, bring it on! ![]()

The live stream camera is too low, you can’t see the top of the crane… so I’m with you. Show us the top of the crane. It DOES look like they are beginning to assemble the boom, so it should rise this afternoon.
@Nickster
Thank you so very much for these still shots! ![]()
Is this live stream camera something that you had to pay-to-view?
Or is there a link that you could share for all to see?
Please and thank you! ![]()
It was shared yesterday farther up ![]()
i wonder if some type of legacy design cues will be incorporated? polite-brutalistic features?
Do we have any idea the height for this building? The crane is taller than expected.
That’s what I am saying to I think is going be a high rise not that sloppy design that they have
Well let’s see a picture of the full crane!!!
~160’ to the top of penthouse (from Jones St)
(+20’ from Lane St since that’s at a lower elevation)
