It was originally submitted to City in 2013 so does not surprise me.

Downtown Raleigh Alliance released their Q2 market report today and this jumped out. I know the renderings I feel have changed over time but here’s what they published. I don’t think I remember the pronounced curved glass on the front

That looks like the older rendering.

UGH I liked this one so much better

Yep that’s what I thought, looks like the DRA used the older (and better looking IMO) rendering. I scrolled up and saw the more boxy looking rendering again. Definitely not as good looking as what they published in their quarterly report.

Hah, I haaaated the old rendering and like the new one a lot more. I like the wood canopy and those swathes of windowless, featureless white and grey panels were not my thing. To each their own.

OH I can definitely appreciate the increase in windows the new render has. The OG render did seem to lump all of its window supply into that curved glass corner, and left a ton of blank wall on the sides.

They’re both distinctively meh in my opinion. The original rendering screams ‘City Centre’ type of hotel with the ‘cool’ curved glass. While the latest rendering reminds me of something you’d see near an airport IMO. Just a big ol box of meh to me :person_shrugging:

Either way at the end of the day, it’s filling in a spot where nothing currently sits.

the as built so far does not include the curved wall.

I’ve always considered this corner the start of the warehouse district. Based on that alone, the brick never bothered me.

Isn’t this why we call this one Hotel d’Chik-fil-a?

I tried to change the name of this thread to Chick-fil-A Hotel just to make sure everyone was aware, but it got changed back for some reason.
